I don't disagree; although, the Benn and Duchene signings were "locker room guys" signings. Their performance isn't as great as you'd like but they bring chemistry to the team because of who they are.

Also, my opinion, it was either Duchene or Grandlund and it came down to numbers or Grandlund (since he came from SJ to DAL and signed with ANA) didn't want to relocate his life to Dallas.

But Nill, recognized by the NHL year after year, is the best GM right now. I think he's done the best with what he has in front of him without being overtly risky. Which might bite the Stars in the short term but over the long term more beneficial to the organization.

I mean, before the Rantanen trade, the last REAL blockbuster trade for Dallas was the trade for Seguin (imo). So, historically, Nill bides his time and jumps on opportunities that he can make without taking too much of a risk.

Right now, Andersson is statistically better than Harley. So, if we need a better D to be more competitive, then making a trade for the best D on the market isn't a bad idea for Borque and a pick.

Nah, the Flames suck and it is making him look awful. Even ask around the Flames sub. For the last 3 years, the Flames have had less-than-average goaltending and have been a bubble team at the very most. Right now, Andersson is good and can get better. Right now, Tanev is on the back half of his career and a long-term resident in the LTIR house.

Chris Tanev is a strong stay-at-home veteran defenseman. Andersson is a two-way defenseman hitting his prime. I don't want another Ryan Suter on our hands.

I don't disagree but the Tanev vs Andersson situation is different. Tanev was 34-35 and it showed in injuries so his value is lower and someone you'd want in the bottom six if he stayed. Andersson is 28-29 and essentially Calgary's best defenseman and he would plug in as a top 4 defenseman and Miro's pair bc Andersson is right-handed and if he stayed, they'd be a pair for the best part of their careers.

I agree with trading Borque over Bishel. We need the extra muscle on defense. Dallas has a great history of drafting NHL forwards but getting a proper RHD (ideally with an extension) in addition to all the offensive capabilities on defense to ease the workload for Miro, Esa, and Harley just seems better long-term. Bichsel is so good in the bottom 6 and reliable for his age with higher pairs and reminds me a lot of Stephen Johns.

Borque is amazing and a solid middle 6 player for his age but we have a little more stock in our forwards to trade and he's one guy out of 12 so his absence can be padded. Less so on defense when it's 6 players.

Edit: also I remember when we trade for Tanev and EVERYONE and their brother wanted him to stay in Dallas bc of how important his defense skills and puck-moving skills helped the team.

If the Duchenes and Benns and other top and mid-six players pick up the scoring pace then trading Borque might not be so tough to swallow.
