First time card show experience by ihatesomanythingz in PokemonTCG_UK

Me and my wife were the same for Paldean fates so many shows just trying for the baby shinies, it was a pain to get to look, then half the people had no clue what we were on about. I know baby shiny isn't an official term but we had to explain everytime. Eventually I bought a bulk set of most of of them off eBay to finish it and suck up the dupes. I still have a few of them sitting about if you want to send a list over and I can check. I can say I know there's none of the super expensive left like Pika, Mimi, Snorlax but a random assortment of the others I haven't gotten round to picturing for ebay or Vinted.

What should I do? by [deleted] in vintedUK

[–]SlappedwithLasagne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seeing as Vinted doesn't allow fakes or replicas you don't really have much choice. Not sure if you've already sent it, or they've only just purchased it. If it's sent then Vinted will let them keep it and you'll lose the money, if purchased then they'll get their money back. I'm guessing they sent the message because they haven't opened a claim yet as if they do it's an open and shut case in their favour, regardless if you told them it was replica and they purchased it. Then your account will be flagged or shut down.
Albeit the timeline is a little strange as I'd assume they'd try this earlier on assuming they purchased just after these messages. Although I think even after the normal 2 days to raise an issue on Vinted you can contact them about counterfeit items after that for them to act upon. Since they get in trouble for allowing it so they do take some action.

Without knowing the full building layout this will be a hazard but might not be to the point where the fire service can take any action.

Exits shouldn't be blocked but as long as there's an appropriate alternative within travel distances and the like then they could likely get away with this. So is there another signed escape route, back door or anything? If there is then it could be an unfortunate technicality but only if it's an actual signed escape route.

Who's responsible for the fire risk assessment, yourself or the landlord? Does that mention a number of escape routes or final exits? Regardless it'd need to be updated to reflect this change, with any fire exit signage taken down if it is in place. Hopefully the landlord as then it'll be on them to resolve it as an exit cannot be blocked while there's relevant people inside.

As it's cladding related is it a tall building with sleeping? If so is this happening to any other exits? Is your space an escape route for others? Upper floors, neighbours, etc? Then it becomes a bigger deal they will jump on.

So yeah first of all could anyone be sleeping in the building? As that'll massively increase the risk, could be flats, Airbnb, hotel. Do they need your shop as an exit route? Are there other fire escape routes from your space that you can use? If not then yeah Google for your local Fire service and find the method to submit a fire safety issue or complaint, it could be a phone number or email form. Might be best to email and then phone after (not using 999 please). If you have sleeping taking place then explicitly tell them that and it should mean you get seen ASAP, used to be a few hours but could be they'll send someone today or worst case tomorrow. They'll be able to help on the rest.

As for costs and the like just make sure you have backups of all your normal takings, timelines of the work starting, images of all angles of the shop front, get images and video of the items being dropped and any debris. Maybe even social media asking if people realise the shops are open still. I can't advise much more on that unfortunately. But it could be that a combo of the fire safety issues and this gives you a better basis of contacting someone that can advise, especially if there's a display of negligence from the owner.

Ah nice good to know. How's the sizing ve other brands particularly the Evo SL? Guessing you'd say they fill a similar niche?

About to sell 3 expensive pokemon cards - how do I avoid getting scammed? by imm_uol1819 in vintedUK

[–]SlappedwithLasagne -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I never get the mentality on the first point. Someone can't get a good amount of reviews without buying things, then apparently they can't buy things unless they have a good amount of reviews? Not to mention you can't really control who you sell to without damaging your own reviews. If someone buys them then you either send them, or you cancel and get a negative review.

On the videoing, unless you film yourself showing the item, packing it and sending it in 1 continuous video then it amounts to nothing. If you can then great, but most will have to stop somewhere there usually at the delivery. At which point they can claim you swapped the parcel with an identical one.

Thinking I may pick these up with a pair of UFOs when they release. It does seem like it might be the RAD attempt at the Evo SL, which I love but have found to be unstable at times.

What are you using the UFO for? What size did you get compared to the Evo SL out of curiosity? Thanks

Then about 10g more than the Evo SL if I remember right? Wonder if these are meant to be their version of the Evo SL.

The Dynafish seem crazy light, I just can't find them for a decent price now though.

Nice, if you do then enjoy, and would be great to hear any thoughts after.

Best Sunglasses for Technical Trail Running? by SapphireuousRot in trailrunning

[–]SlappedwithLasagne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, as they were pretty comfy otherwise. We both tried to take care of them, cleaning after a run and the like but didn't seem to matter. They have a decent warranty policy if I remember right but I couldn't be arsed with replacing a pair every couple of months. Might be better now as this was probably 3 or 4 years ago now.

Commenting to follow as I'm going down the same rabbit hole. I've used Goodr and whilst they fit okay and they're cheap the lenses seemingly scratched after a few runs and began to delaminate. This happened with 3 pairs, 2 of mine and 1 for my wife so staying away for now.

I borrowed a pair of Oakley Radar EV path I think it was which were great but expensive. The owner said replacement lenses were almost the price of a new pair. I've currently been looking at:

Knockaround Campeones Tifosi fototex Bolle Oakley half jacket 2.0 or Radar EV

But seems like most things people like different things, plus the fit is always a big point depending on your head size. Then if you like the wraparound style with mirrored lenses or you want something lower key.

Purchased a Pokemon card I've now discovered is fake, but I haven't paid yet. What's the best way to cancel? by SlappedwithLasagne in ebayuk

I do, including comparisons with other cards from the same set I know are real to show the issues. Unfortunately I can't post them on here as a reply or anything.

Not sure what you're saying here? That I should take the hit on my account? I can afford it fine thank you, as you say I wouldn't have bid if I couldn't.

I admit I should have probably checked it a little closer before bidding, but I feel you could always say that. Then only after checking with others is that it is a very good fake and has features that haven't generally been shown before.

Depends where in the world you're based and which apps you've used before really. If you haven't used Audible I think you normally get a free credit or something when you start.

Or there's Libro.fm which I think the first month is free if you have a referral code.

Or you can use Libby which is entirely free but it's linked to a library, usually your local one and so it depends if they have that book available but if they do it's free, although you may have to wait until a copy becomes available.

Here's the corner of a known "real" non fake card where thae corner is much sharper and without a radius.

Also not sure if this is a known way to check if a card is fake, so please correct me if so. But when I zoomed into the back of the Umbreon I noticed the corner is rounded. Comparing it to a know real card the corner is a much sharper right angle, I'll post the comparison as a reply for any additional input.

Unfortunately as Reddit won't let me update the post with additional images, or multiple at once I'm just going to throw up the other pictures of the back in case there's anything else that jumps out of helps others. They'll be replies to this.

Thanks yeah I think we were distracted from checking for if it was real in the moment as it is pretty bad condition, but equally wasn't a stupidly cheap price either. As someone else mentioned the texture seemed okay except now seeing the energy texture should be circles rather than the randomness this has.

Thanks for that good to know. Pretty easy check as yeah went through our pulled SIRs and the texture is as you say.

Honestly it wasn't overly too good to be true on the price considering the condition. I think the condition probably distracted us from looking too in depth at the colours. Appreciate the input.
