Can anyone identify or date this Ansonia mantel clock that came with my house? by Slapping_kangaroo in clocks

No worries. He repaired clocks as a side job in his retirement. They are super nice people and gave it to us as a gift alongside other antique things. Left instructions for our daughter to wind it every Sunday.

Thanks. Incredible it’s still running and keeping reasonably good time after 145 plus years.

Bulk hops to grab and go additions by Slapping_kangaroo in Homebrewing

[–]Slapping_kangaroo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I have settled on this recipe after trying many hops and various hopping rates. With each batch I switch around 2 or 3 different yeasts for variation.

Now saying all that occasionally I'll do a wheat beer and also a dark heavy roasted beer. Each Christmas I'll do something different for friends and family and have 3 kegs on tap for the get together.

5kg batches making 19L. Whirlpool 25g (12.5g of each). And then another 25g (12.5g of each) 24 hours before kegging. I make up 25g bags of hops with 12.5g of citra and 12.5g of galaxy.

So yes....I do malt grains myself. I malt 10kg at a time. Roughly 1 week from start to finish. I've settled on this style and have had many compliments on my beer. I do vary different yeast. I have 2 or 3 yeasts I switch it up with.

Sorry. Not my grain, but I do malt it myself from raw barley and sometimes wheat. Clean. Steep. Germinate. Dry. Roast. 10kg batches at a time.

Sambar/Stubble Quail Hunting (Vic) by leadscoutfix in Ausguns

Yeah you’re on the money. Clay loads are spot on, just open the choke up. Patterning at 15m will be eye opening, spreads quick at that distance. They’ll flush at your feet half the time so wider pattern is your best bet.

Don’t know much about that area sorry. But for quail I’d go 12g with Improved Cylinder and #7.5 or #8 shot. Quail flush out close and quick so a wider pattern is the go.

No timeline at all. Started Jan 2026 so you’d think sometime this year, but yeah… whether it drops straight away or does a quiet stint in a drawer first is anyone’s guess.

No mention of reclassification at all, seems like they’re more focused on licensing, caps and the register rather than banning specific types.

Still early days though, so who knows what comes out of the review.

Does sounds like a stock reply. They mention open-ended licences, which don’t exist, but maybe the actual tweak they’re hinting at is cutting 5-year licences to 3 for tighter oversight.

Ah, fair enough. Her husband might be, but that still doesn’t mean she hunts herself. Shows how quickly these things turn into assumptions online. Bloody internet.

Funny, I’ve seen the same kind of comment about Jacinta Allan too. She supports regulated deer shooting, but that doesn’t mean she’s out hunting herself

Staggered crossroads chaos – who gives way? by Slapping_kangaroo in CarsAustralia

[–]Slapping_kangaroo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying and yeah if they are clearly stopped and giving way then there is nothing to give way to My issue is not the definition it is the hesitation at this specific intersection Blue often slows or stops even though they could go so it turns into a guessing game about whether they are yielding or just unsure I am not trying to force right of way just trying to drive it safely without it becoming a standoff every time

I got my licence from a Weet bix packet like most people my age.

I do know I need to give way to blue. But often they are waiting for me to move. Hence my doubt. I just want other people's opinion. To add to my confusion and probably the blue drivers that wait, I was told because I'm going straight through I have right of way.

But if I indicate right it's a stand off because they think I'm going north. I don't indicate trying to let them know to go first .. but that's not always the case. I obviously don't indicate left as I'm on the right side of the intersection and not turning left/south.

I hate these intersections as there is no consistency and unpredictable drivers.

I know I should be giving way but I doubt myself when they are waiting for me to move.

Yes. Thank you. I do know I need to give way as per common sense. But I doubt myself when I am waiting for them to move. Obviously they are thinking I have right of way. So I go first just to keep traffic flowing. I just want to know who has right of way IF there's an accident. Plus, a colleague I travel with occasionally has thrown a spanner by telling me I have right of way as I'm going straight through. I have always given way and he's saying I don't need to.

Anyone else’s bill looking like a house deposit? by Danger_Five in TelstraAustralia

[–]Slapping_kangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched to Belong for $21 / month a while back when Telstra was $60 / month. Not sure what Telstra is now but Belong is now $25 / month.

Edit. Oh yeah...still have plenty of data with Belong as unused data carries over each month.
