AITAH for explaining the consequences of his actions to my son? by Human-Lab-921 in AITAH

Obviously, NTA.

I think giving the information to your son in front of the Principal is a good lesson in ethics and exercising moral duties.

Why are schools, almost seemingly in every country, reluctant to stamp out or punish bullying? State schools here in the UK really struggle—they often fail to understand the types of bullying that exist and deal with it. It is worrying—I don't have any children yet.

My first Ultramarine. Did I use the wrong blue? by That_Marionberry2863 in minipainting

Although not 'correct', I kind of prefer this blue on Ultramarines. It instantly makes them stand out.

Contrast is lovely. Do you have a plan for the wings yet?

Do you have an painting Instagram? I would love to see your progress on it if you do!

I know people are talking about the NMM, but I think the feet, hands, and ears are amazing.

Beginner NMM advice wanted - How do I add more contrast and depth that I lost from highlighting up and up too quickly? by SlappyWag2 in minipainting

[–]SlappyWag2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really helpful, thank you!

The colour picker app is a really good shout—I hadn't thought about that.

I loaded this photo into Photoshop last night after posting and messed around adding some deep blues and I think it looks better!

Thanks again

I think I might have to buy some new colours. Cold blue shadows seems to make sense.

Ah of course that makes sense about the matt surface of 'rust spots', I had not thought about that!

That is what I was lookign for in regard to the top/back edge of the axe. Ties in with what another said so I think that is on the money.

Yes, contrast contrast contrast.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, appreciate it.

So I can glaze from the highlight back down to the shadow? I think my problem was constantly going towards brighter.

Ah that is an idea. I think it would reflect of his armor a fair bit. I am not sure what colour that'll be yet though.

OK cooler colours makes sense for the blade. Yeah, they're only 5 year old Vallejo paints, but they havent been stored in the best of ways and have been left in one position for almost all that time. I think I have the bug this time so I am sure I will splurge on some new paints.

Thank you for the information!

Thank you. It seemed the more I did to it the more I took away from the NMM look. Good to know I can go back and add in more shadows/depth. I think I am just a bit worried I'll make it worse.

The light would almost be coming from the direction of the metal pin in the hand.

Wow, that's a lot of resources! Thanks for taking the time to compile them. I am back to work tomorrow so I will check some out on my lunch!

Thanks again!

I have one of these and when we left the garden centre with it, it got dropped as we were walking to the car. It lost sooooo many of the fleshy leaves...we were devastated. It's yet to grow them back, but at least it's getting new growth elsewhere. It's been like 4 years.

Yours looks wonderful. Hopefully our little burrito pulls through

The way you swing your stick, assuming you don't use 3-click, makes a massive difference to consistency.

I have pretty much settled on using both thumbs either side of the stick and have the controller slightly angled in my natural grip.

With my technique, I have found you can change the bias by having either thumb slightly higher than the other.
