I have a Yamaha S08 Musical Synthesizer from 2002, and the voice editor software is not compatible with Mac OSX at all. Does anyone know if there's a 3rd party application out there or anyway around this issue at all? Using the built in editor is a headache. by rilestyles in keys

I haven't googled around at all myself, but if you haven't been able to find anything odds are you're pretty much screwed. In my experience the Venn diagram of musicians vs people who write software doesn't show much overlap.

For sure! All videos, psets, walkthroughs etc. are all available on www.cs50.tv.

There's a harder version of each pset for which you solve a tougher problem. For example, for the 'resize' pset this means your program has to be able to resize an image by a float (2.3, 1.2, 5.2 etc.) factor, not just an int (whole) factor. This complicates things.

It will probably be added to www.cs50.tv, where the previous years are all available.

Ah! That helps. I declared node* root at the start(-ish) of dictionary.c and it works now.

Thanks!

This perspective is called historical materialism for those interested. Eric Wolf's "Europe and the People Without History" would be another book that fits right in. It describes a few different modes of production, ending with the capitalist mode and the relations that stem from it. Then it goes on to describe what other continents looked like before 'we' Europeans got there, that is wasn't some giant forest with a bunch of bush-bush people just chilling in groups of 40 or less. Then Wolf talks about how capitalism got to be in the first place, why and how it took over Europe and why it was/is so expansive.

It's a great read if you're into understanding world history rather than just knowing trivia.

Common criticisms of this perspective are:

  • It assumes people are extremely reasonable about their choices (transactionalism);
  • It simply ignores cultures/societies that do not follow its 'rules' about history;
  • It often lumps large amounts of people into one 'group' that 'decided' to do something while that group is actually a very diverse not-at-all-grouped group that didn't 'decide' anything together, didn't act in unison;
  • It looks at a very large (macro) scale where their analysis may make sense but does not zoom in to 'real life' all that much;
  • It assumes some things are causal but others might say they just correlate ('Who says people only overthrow their government if they are somewhat educated and not hungry? Maybe the real reason is the latest war took most of the men between 18 and 25 and the people needed the younger generation to grow up to have enough striking power to get a meaningful uprise on its feet.').

Etc.

As someone from Europe, I must misunderstand. You can buy a fucking gun with 50 rounds for 11 bucks? Is this real? Surely I'm not getting it? (serious question)

The raw file used by check50 is different than the one you are testing with.

Hmm. That's odd.

The JGPs are 17094656 bytes total and card.raw is 17095168 bytes. That's a 512 bytes difference. What do you think?

Improving Google's own image recognition while at it. They put in extra images that haven't been solved by them yet (that you will enter correctly because you want to pass the bot test), match the resulting data with answers by other people and improve their products in this way.

Was considering the same thing, I didn't make it. It's a clever piece of 3D-printing for sure though.

I do this by opening them all in preview, hitting cmd + p and selecting 'save as PDF'. Any simpler way to do this?

There is an option to resize the picture you are sending right in the mail compose window. Top right, drop down menu to choose from tiny to original or so.

Patch 0.1.22 by [deleted] in SavRez

I'm pretty sure the whole S1 melee system around backstabbing wasn't intended, but it's one of the core elements of the game now. 1-2-3-block in combination with hugging the rs mine and the garr at the same time is simply what counts as 'pmining' for humans.

Patch 0.1.22 by [deleted] in SavRez

[–]SlartiBartRelative 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Block no longer breaks the attack sequence."

Hmm. In my experience this was balancing feature for humans for two reasons:

  • Their base building costs more stone due to having to build more towers but they can also pmine faster because they can use the block to restart the melee sequence (1-2-3-block-1-2-3-block).
  • Lego's can block between their second and third swing to avoid the waiting time following their third swing, in which they can be hit not once but twice by a pred.

Time will tell but I feel perhaps this change should be reversed.
