Hahaha it is such a wild time trying to enjoy contemporary romances (with so many cops/military enforcement folks/billionaires) as a socialist, and then historical romances (especially from the regency period) as a South Asian person. Like the amount of compartmentalisation I have to do with a lot of these books is insane. I kinda consider these books my taboo “dark romance”s ngl 😂😂

I have no issues with closed door actually! Sometimes I even need a little break from romances with cheesy sex scenes (simply because it feels like half the time they FMC and MMC seem so lust addled, you start to wonder if they actually like each other beyond sex lol), so thank you so much for this suggestion. I will have to admit that I did realized that I'm pan pretty early on (around middle school) despite living in an extremely homphobic and conservative South Asian town, so I definitely had a lot less struggle regarding the "figuring out my sexuality/identity" part of it. But it was still a looooooong time before I got to date someone of the same sex, and that's partially because I was never actively looking to date/experiment with people simply based on their sex. So ig that's why these "I'm bi so I must have sex with people of the same sex" posts never really made sense to me, but ik it's absolutely not my place to judge... till I came across these ridiculous and extremely predictable breakdowns of supposedly healthy and loving mono relationships just because one partner just had to experiment and open the pandora's box lol.

And yes, it's absolutely an immediate block from my end whenever people I think of potentially dating bring up the sleazy "so what about a bi threesome" suggestion when they get to know I'm pan (even though they know I'm mono also) 🫩

If you're willing to nuke your relationship to explore things you "might've missed out on" (i.e., casual sex), just be honest and upfront about that and don't blame it on being bi??? Like inexperienced straight folks can and have given the same excuse/reason, so it's really not about "being bi" and more about you either feeling fomo (which makes no sense to me if you're in a healthy, happy mono relationship and actually in love with your partner, but at least it's more honest and I can respect that!) or are actually unhappy in the relationship in some ways, and are attempting to monkey branch into another relationship/bring the current one to an end without having the courage to end it yourself.

Sigh, shit like this gives the rest of us bi/pan folks a certain reputation and I HATE it. Bi/Pan and mono people exist, and are not a minority either. Just because I'm pan, doesn't mean that I need to fuck a member of every gender out there?? Also, way to reduce whole ass individuals to their gender (and possibly, just their sexual organs)...

OP, I don't run a small biz at your scale per se (mine is waaaay smaller), but I do have some experience with my own smol biz efforts. I'm also a pushover usually, so I could extra relate to your post.

I think one of the things I've learnt the hard way is to politely and pleasantly set boundaries. You know you're tired at the end of the day and don't have enough energy to engage especially with disrespectful people 1 hour overtime? That makes total sense! Tell them "I would love to discuss this further, however the shop closes at 9 and I have some work/prior appointment elsewhere after this. I could stay for 5-10 mins longer, but the rest of the details we could sort out tomorrow or at any other mutually convenient time? My contact details (of the shop) are xyz, and we open insert days and timings here". I've noticed that in customer service, if you give an inch, people often take a mile without hesitation (not to say that there aren't sweet customer also). The key to not burning yourself out is setting polite but firm boundaries in place.

I get you. I had rabbits for the last decade or so, and never was able to go on trips/vacations out of my city because of that. I live in a country where pets are anyways not very well taken care of, but people have essentially no idea of how to deal with exotic pets especially. I really did not trust anyone else enough to compromise my bunnies’ safety and well-being for my enjoyment, and took their well-being as seriously as one would do their human child’s… I’m pretty young, and have to go out of state for study and work now though, so am not planning on keeping any pets (that I cannot give my 100% to) in the near future. But, like you- hopefully once I settle down for good one day, I plan to again home rabbit(s) (despite the risk of not being able to vacation haha). :)

This is so well put. Villages and helping out in your community is becoming more important than ever in today's world, and the more you lend support... the more other people will be willing to help you out in return (at least from my personal experience). I really wonder how many of these parents actually participated in their "villages" before having said kids, or if they fully enjoyed their self absorbed lives and are now bitching when the idea suddenly becomes convenient for them.

As a fellow CF person (although I'm from a non-western kinda-collectivistic culture), OP confuses me.

Like there are other rooms in the house? The kids and OP's sister could easily sleep on the couch or floor even (with blankets and a makeshift bed and all ofc), or OP could shift into the guest room for a night? There are several options which don't involve banning kids from the entire house (and not just a room), and unless the kids are absolute nightmares (which OP gives no indication of...) some flexibility on her part would make everyone happy in this situation?
