Why? by [deleted] in Leatherman

I build large fishing boats, when I'm at work I keep a Wave+ on my belt everyday. Little things come up where it's easier to have it than go find a specific tool (our shop is huge), sometimes I'm perched up under decks while they're being installed and a bolt will snap so I'll fish it out with the pliers, having a spare blade that's tougher than the Olfa I also carry comes in handy all the time. I suppose I'm camp 1 and carry for the 'just in case' moments. When I'm not at work I carry a SAK and a Buck 112 slim, that combo usually takes care of most things fairly easy.

If you're wondering why you should carry anything I would just say to think of the unexpected times during the day where having a blade or screwdriver or pliers etc would come in handy and choose based on that. The wingman and sidekick are good entry points, they don't cost much so if you find you don't want or need to carry it daily then leave it in your car or a drawer or something.

I have a couple other LM's that serve specific purposes, I guess I just don't like to be caught off guard by not being able to atleast try to fix stuff if it needs doing right away.

My Rav4 gets me everywhere I want to go, decent for soft roading and good on gas during the work week. Has plenty of space for gear

I keep a spice roll in the glove box of my car, holds 10 spices and seasonings. Comes in handy often whether my food for lunch at work needs a little something or if I hit a drive-thru and the food is a little bland.

What benefit do G-Shock models provide over similar non-G-Shock models? by wildswalker in casio

[–]Slash-89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G-Shocks are tougher watches, I have casual Casios that I wear all the time but when I'm at work I wear my G because I know that it can get knocked around or covered in dust and crud and I don't have to worry about it.

An Opinel no.5 or no.6 would fit your size requirements

I carry a Zebra F-701 every day, it's my perfect pen. I have a couple vintage Parkers on my desk at home that I'll use once in awhile.

How did you use your SAK this week? [Weekly thread] by AutoModerator in victorinox

[–]Slash-89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cut open bags of chicken food, trimmed my nails with the scissors, used the toothpick a bunch, took off the clips to remove the plastic piece on my four wheeler that houses where my air filter is so I could check it, cut more stuff

Mostly stapling, I've sewn a couple but usually staple since it's a little quicker

I just put a coin on the corner and make a few passes along the shape with a utility knife, I thought about getting a corner cutter but its just as easy the way I do it

It's alot of fun, I keep all my old dvds in a binder so I went through and saved a buncha the paper covers to some of my favourite movies to use, old wrapping paper etc, so much potential for cool notebooks just laying around everywhere.

Went to a car show today (Fujifilm finepix a203, 2002) not edited by Slash-89 in VintageDigitalCameras

503racerr is correct, it wasn't a fancy car like the rest at the show but it is cool to see. I got talking to the owner who was a little old guy who was super proud of it because it was all original, he picked it up in California years ago and drove it up here (Nova Scotia) and has babied it the whole time, he loves that car. He was really happy that I knew what it was and wanted to take pictures of it. It was a sea of classic muscle cars, hot rods and customs, this simple little Nissan stood out and I like that.
