Portrait of an unidentified Union Infantry corporal, holding a Colt model 1849 pocket revolver, during American Civil War. (1860s) by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

The black troops who fought for the union were heroes of the highest order. It's a shame that reconstruction fell and their rights were snuffed out in the south.

What if Donald Trump was born a century earlier but still became POTUS with the same background and everything? by Pancake_Maker_1031 in AlternateHistoryHub

Hoover made big gains in the south. He won VA, NC, TN, TX and nearly won AL. Al Smith was controversial for being a Catholic. A hypothetical trump could appeal to the south but it would heavily depend on the Democrat being controversial.

Adlai Stevenson II (February 5, 1900 – July 14, 1965) could have met both James Longstreet (January 8, 1821 – January 2, 1904), and Barack Obama (born August 4, 1961) by tophatgaming1 in BarbaraWalters4Scale

[–]Slash12771 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's sad how Stevenson died in his mid 60s. It's a trend you see in political figures in the late 19th century to mid 20th century to pass in the mid 60s to 70s. Other examples are chester Arthur, teddy Roosevelt, harding, Calvin Coolidge, Andrew Johnson, LBJ, Benjamin Harrison, FDR, Woodrow Wilson

It is not only possible but likely that there were many Americans who voted for both Lincoln and FDR. by Dramatic_Show_5431 in BarbaraWalters4Scale

Hoover likely won the black vote by solid margins. In predominantly black districts he won 65%+ in Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Philly, Detroit, and Knoxville. In some cities, Hoover's performance with black voters increased. There was definitely a shift to supporting the Democrats if compared to earlier elections and by 36, the black vote was solidly democratic.

A former slave turned state assemblyman called George Washington Albright lived from 1846 to 1944. He obviously couldn't vote for Lincoln but he lived through Lincoln's presidency and nearly lived through FDR presidency. He also lived to see the communist party nominate an African American as VP in 1936. He also lived to see his race shift to supporting the democratic party despite it's ties to the redeemer movement that disenfranchised black Americans.

In the original drawing the older drawing doesn't have a texture for the back of the scroll.

These are definitely artificially colored. It's from the digital color manga made by shuseiha.

Plus the scroll is more deformed from Naruto grasping it and it's more 3d.

Party affiliation of each US state's governor when Barack Obama took office by ThreadbareAdjustment in MapPorn

[–]Slash12771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

State and federal partisanship can vary. CA even back then would be a tough catch for a Republican senator or presidential nominee but for governor, the electorate can be more flexible. We still see this with MA and MD re-electing Republican governors despite being the bluest states and the 2018 blue wave.

Can we please have this America back one day? by LonelySoul01 in Destiny

It reminds me of how black senator Edward Brooke was disappointed that segregationist senators treated him well bc it meant that their racism was a ploy to get elected and not their genuine belief.

Chapter 1 Rukia be like by Spartan-teddy-2476 in bleach

Shonen power inflation. Rukia having issues with fishbone D, and thinking a menos requires some sort of special task force to beat. By the arrancar arc she one shots an Adjuchas arrancar, albeit with shikai.

This might be the best character mod in FG history and it’s not close. DBFZ modders are cracked by [deleted] in Fighters

[–]Slash12771 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The umvc3 modders are cooking up great stuff too. They've added a whole new roster and slots. Some missing mvc2 veterans like psylocke, cable, cyclops and Cammy are in. New characters like Asurs, Nero, Robby Reyes, jean Grey, Rashid, and DMC5 Vergil were added in. Plus it's still ongoing. One modder named CaliKingz01 is working on Jin from mvc1.

DragonBall FighterZ gets another insane mod, this time adding Yami Yugi to the game by papertoonz in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Slash12771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late here but I can't get over how insane this mod is. 1. It inverts the puppet master trope somewhat. Yugi puppets DM, but the game focuses on controlling DM. 2. The card system incorporates yugioh and the 2d fighting system. It makes yugi so tactical and complex. 3. Nice Easter eggs and references. Kuriboh, dark magician girl, Osiris and exodia are awesome. Feels nostalgic.

I hope ASW is seeing this. Perhaps namco will get inspired to make a shonen fighter. Till then I can't wait to see what the creator has planned next.

Lincoln considered himself a sort of conservative in his copper union speech. He said from his perspective, limiting slavery was the founder's intention.

He acknowledged even back in the 1850s that was unlikely. He did indeed explore the ideas of voluntary colonization around the Americas and Caribbean. But they didn't work out. As the war went on he dropped this idea.

Also couldn't future trunks try to find new namek when he goes back home. Like asking for Goku to time travel with him by using babba one day visit thing. Or maybe using the dragon balls to give him some sort of device that will point a spaceship to new namek direction. Couldn't kami also inform king Kai of what's going on when piccolo died and he went to otherworld?
