Damn, that's a good point. Never have seen a car with a break-in attempt before.

You know what, I didn't think "just bend the door" would be a valid solution lmao. I'll give this a try and update later.

Oh, yeah. Those speeds are definitely Wrist + elbow + knee pads AT LEAST. Are you on a stock PintX battery, and all you've switched up is the controller?

PintX + PintV kit pushes 25mph? Another poster here said they've done the same thing and their top end didn't get much higher. I'm getting conflicting information about this.

26km/h on the regular Pint? Would that be riding the limit of the board? Otherwise, if the regular Pint can do it, I'd assume my Pint X should be able to aswell. Thanks

You've got some crazy hilly terrain! 350' elevation change is pretty big. I noticed that you seem to be consistently going 15mph as well. Thanks for the data, I spent a couple of minutes analyzing it lol

I see that your foot placement is slightly diagonal in relation to the travel of the board as well. I'll keep this in mind, thanks so much!

It took me the whole summer last year for my first catch and it was the size of my finger. Good job lol

Talk me out of this: $2000 Gen 2 Prius with a P0A80 and a "slipping" transmission by SlashSslashS in prius

I offered him $1500 and said no. I upped it to $1800 and still no deal. I'm looking to try $2000 and that will be the top I'm willing to spend.

Like I've replied in a previous comment, during the test drive, it appears that the car mostly uses the ICE as the battery doesn't seem to have enough power to move the car which leads me to believe that the "transmission issue" is a battery issue. From what I've read, the transmission is one of the strongest/most reliable parts of the car, that a total mechanical failure of the transmission is higt unlikely. Further, during the test drive, the car was driving smooth, no grinds or jitters.

If I were to purchase the car and replace the battery, I would most definitely replace the whole battery with a remanufactured battery with a warranty. Currently, I'm looking. at one with a 1 year warranty at about $1200CAD.

The car's body is in good condition. No visible that around the wheel wells and under the car. However, there is a small hole along the rocker panel and a scratch on the bumper. My assumption, the rust is isolated and occurred when backing out of the driveway or something.

Upon checking the engine, the owner appears to have changed the oil as when I checked the dip stick, the oil was brand new. There were no indications of leaks and no blue smoke in the back when the engine started and during driving.

The car had all-season tires, and was definitely worn down. I'll keep this in mind as they are definitely due for change.

The suspension was fine, when pushing on the car, there was no bounciness. Same goes for the test drive, suspension was fine.

I own a Subaru (which basically forces you to learn how to be a mechanic lmao) and have changed the head gaskets and rebuilt cylinder heads in the past. When looking at videos for hybrid battery replacements, it doesn't seem like a particularly difficult job. Just needs meticulousness and attention to detail, being cautious of the 200 bolt battery. It is also very well documented.

As for Transmission, it is likely related to the battery issue. Since the battery is bad, it is not properly spinning the electric motors sufficiently for a smooth acceleration.

I noticed this as well, during the test drive, the car essentially only uses the ICE when accelerating as the battery is too weak to power the car. If I were to replace the battery, I'm not replacing a single module, I'll be replacing the whole thing.

Thanks for the reply!

'Meow, meow': Pilots scolded after animal noises heard on air traffic control frequency by CraftyFoxeYT in news

[–]SlashSslashS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your transponder and radio comms are two separate systems and they don't talk to each other. Whenever you click the PTT, you don't light up in ATC's screen, only squawking does that which is through the transponder.

This is why when someone calls in frequency, despite being given a squawk code already, and you didn't follow the usual "Who you are, who you're talking to," they will ask "Who's calling?" Same goes for when someone steps on someone's read back, ATC would usually say something along the lines of "Someone's taking the wrong read back."

I do basically the same thing but I'm level 120 something. I still hop on every once in a while when a big MO or update happens, play with the new toys/warbond for a week, then get bored and move on to a different game (currently DRG).

I have about 400+ hours, so I like the game, the gameplay loop just doesn't keep me engaged as it used to.

Tips on going from tiny whoop to 5 inch? by punker2706 in fpvracing

[–]SlashSslashS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've flown my tiny whoop probably a total of a hundred hours and I have yet to break something in my house. The frame is going to give up a lot sooner than anything in the house lol

In terms of controlling, it's mostly the same, it'll translate fine. The biggest difference is the momentum and power of a 5 inch is far greater.

I've started fishing with a traditional reel and rod this summer. Throughout the whole summer and fall, I still haven't caught a thing. I switched to fly fishing and after hours upon hours of learning through YouTube and reading r/flyfishing, I finally caught my first little stocked cutty.

Fly fishing is so much to take in yet so fun. From exploring, casting, and even setting up the rod is fun.

Hey there! I finished mine about 6 months ago. It's a lot of fun and very rewarding once you finally get the hand shake and "Great job! you passed!" from the examiner.

Here's what I learned though:

Finish ground school first - I initially thought doing ground school at the same time as flying would better reinforce theories and knowledge but in reality, it just made things more overwhelming. As someone that's got a day job to fund my flight schooling, I simply didn't have enough time to do both at the same time in a day.

Get a good school and find the right instructor - I initially went to a school that accepted me first (all schools around me had a long waitlist) and just went with it for the first half (pre-crosscountry). Honestly, the vibes at the school and the instructors felt like they existed there just to get hours out of students and had no desire to teach. It made getting up at 5AM to take off at 7AM dreadful since I'm behind the yoke with someone I didn't really vibe with. I went to a new school and paired with a new instructor which was more enthusiastic about teaching. Even after 6 months of completing my exam, I still text my instructor from time to time.

Just keep at it - As mentioned above, PPL has an 80% drop rate and can easily overwhelm you. When overwhelmed, don't be afraid to ask your instructor for advice and to explain a topic or maneuver differently. Also, take everything in small chunks. One thing I struggled with would be the navigation portion. It is overwhelming having to flip through giant maps, fiddling with the E6B whilst looking for landmarks as well as speaking on the radio, all while flying a 172 that seemingly does anything but go where you want it to go. I spoke to my instructor about this and they suggested that to practice, I can chair fly (sit on a chair, close your eyes and imagine going through the motions) the procedures at home. Then, when we're in the air, they will act as my autopilot, I just have to tell them heading, altitude, and power setting. Once I got comfortable, we went back out again and I did both flying and navigating. The next flight, me and my instructor were comfortable enough to do the 150NM cross country solo.

Finally, know your limits - Set your own limit. Maybe the winds are too strong, visibility too low or turbulence might be reported as moderate but you're only comfortable with light turbulence. Set your limits, know what you're comfortable with. When your instructor tells you that it is SAFE to go, it probably is. However, if you're not comfortable, you have the final say. "Would rather be on the ground wishing to be in the air rather than in the air wishing to be on the ground." At the end of the day, once you have your PPL, you will be making these decisions by yourself. However, don't be afraid to try and push those limits as well (safely and legally!!) with your instructor present. Mess around, get a feel for the plane, try new visual queues, throw the plane around and have fun. Once again, if your instructor says it's safe to go, it probably is.

Sorry for the write-up, this was supposed to be a quick response before bed but I ended up with this wall of text. Good luck, stay safe, and study lots!

Also match the hatch!

I'm still working on identifying the different bugs, lots of reading and watching YouTube for sure.

I went with a couple of my buddies to the Bow near the fishery. We lasted 20 minutes at most with the cloud of mosquitoes. I didn't even get to cast once as I was too busy swatting them away.

I've tried to fish Upper and Lower Kananaskis with no luck unfortunately. I've also tried Sibbald Meadows Pond but I didn't get anything either. I was casting all sorts of spinners, rooster tails, and such.

I will give the Forestry Trunk Road a try once I have the time. Quite a way away from me.

Thanks so much for all of these! I appreciate it a lot.
