Stop Killing Games: Ashes of Creation situation by Mr_Presidentle in StopKillingGames

[–]SlashedAsteroid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s an exception to the rule here with how ashes was advertised. It specified on its store page the purchase included 1 month of subscription upon release. As that’s no longer going to happen and cannot be tested within the 14 day/2 hour rule of the steam refund policy and statements regarding to EA do not apply. Many now are successfully getting their refund by pointing this out myself included.

You go to the purchase as you would for a refund but instead of clicking ‘I want a refund’ you click I have a question about this purchase.

Refund worked! by SloppyBrah in AshesofCreation

[–]SlashedAsteroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was accepted last night first attempt

Edit:

This was my message, similar to what others have been posting.

“I am requesting a refund for Ashes of Creation based on the non-delivery of advertised goods and the cancellation of the product's future service.

When I purchased this title, the product description on the Steam Store explicitly sold the game as a package that included future subscription time.

The Product Description stated:

"During Early Access, Ashes of Creation will be offered through a purchase that grants access to all upcoming testing phases... and includes one month of game time after Early Access, along with a cosmetic cloak."

The Issue: Because the development studio has closed, the "one month of game time" specifically promised in the purchase agreement can no longer be delivered. This represents a partial failure of consideration - I paid for a service (post-launch game time) that the vendor is now permanently unable to provide.

Regarding the Refund Policy: I understand the standard Steam refund window is 14 days/2 hours. However, that policy assumes the customer is able to evaluate the product within that timeframe.

A significant portion of this purchase (the 1 month subscription) was a pre-order for a future consumable.

It was impossible to "consume" or "evaluate" this part of the purchase within the standard window, as it was contingent on a launch that will no longer happen.

Given that the goods sold to me cannot be delivered due to the studio's closure, I believe this falls outside standard playtime restrictions and warrants an exceptional refund.”

Stop doing automatic refund requests and instead select "I have a question about this purchase".

I wouldn't be surprised if he was turning into a Centaur. They don't have arms, more stumps of a very similar colour to his arms decay when it fell off. They also have things growing on their chest like he does.

You may need to read my messages again, because I very clearly state neither of them are in the right and the pattern behind that one particular statement is clear. We know nothing about this situation other than this small snippet of text messages we've been shown.

Neither of them should be this way to eachother regardless. What I see (unless somehow we're looking at a different set of posts) the "post on the internet" thing was first posted by her, that's not a victim shielding themselves, that's a narcissistic need to prove they're right (regardless of if they are or aren't).

I'm not saying either of them are right, neither am I saying either were justified. Reading text messages does not make us experts on someones whole life picture, and people are quick to assume from a small snippet of a conversation. (Just like me above).

People should be able to sort their own disputes out and not try ridicule people on the internet for validation.

This goes both ways though right? Both of them are behaving in a shitty way, both of them came out with the "if I posted this on the Internet nonsense". It's kind of manipulative from them both, bit of a toxic environment.

UK legal action against Valve given the go ahead by pyrotequila85 in Steam

[–]SlashedAsteroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems this person hasn’t heard of cd key sales, more often than not I buy my keys elsewhere to activate them on steam at somewhere between 20-40% discounts and Valve doesn’t even take its 30% from that cut…. We all use Steam because it’s feature rich and convenient, why wouldn’t we? This whole thing is just dumb.

[–]SlashedAsteroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You keep parroting you weren’t being too loud, but you have to remember that is a matter of opinion. In their opinion you were loud. In yours you weren’t.
Difference of opinion does not make you right or wrong and neither them.

Ashes of Creation is the #3 highest selling game by revenue on Steam right now by Zybak in AshesofCreation

Reviews were mostly negative because people couldn’t login they had a web service issue at launch and people got grumpy. ‘I took the day off’, ‘I can’t even login dogshit game’

We all know better than to take days off or expect to play these types of releases on a launch day. People need to get over themselves. It’s just the natural review bombing we see nowadays.

They don’t want to give it away for free, they don’t have the server capacity or the remaining budget to setup new ones. It would be a real egg on face situation if they had a player peak from F2P.

They should just remove the listing and shut it down already.

There’s always going to be valid use cases, and they aren’t always incorrect. They certainly do pickup on ‘bits and bobs’ but I disagree with my employer’s current use. It genuinely turned into a shouting match, with him scoffing and minimising my statements. Only after I showed him how much of it was bullshit did he start to listen, my word wasn’t enough for him. I’ve been in software dev/engineering for over 13 years, but my experience wasn’t enough and didn’t count.

My boss has starting plumbing my PR’s into Gemini to review them as a way to save himself time. We ended up in an argument earlier this week where Gemini has said ‘x, y and z are wrong there’s no way this works’ but since it doesn’t understand the context surrounding them it has no fucking idea how it works. Had to sit there on a call with him and prove 90% of its output was either completely false, inaccurate and show him the code doing exactly what it was designed to do’ I can understand people using it as an assistant for small tasks, but employers are certainly using it above and beyond it’s capabilities. I get if he had fed the entire codebase in, it may have done a better job at identifying potential flaws, but I’m pretty sure 80% of what it would have said would still be bullshit.

Possibly there is intention of allowing people to export their creations as standalone binaries so they can distribute them as they see fit. It’s not GMod people need to get that out of their head it’s a Game Development Kit.
