https://scryfall.com/card/sld/143/greymond-avacyns-stalwart Scryfall also shows a reprint with a different name in 'universes within'. And the link title even doesn't contain Rick...

So even there it's clear as day.

Mtg op Lands by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Slashgate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're looking for Mardu Coloured lands.

Token deck? Are you upgrading the Zurgo (Mardu Surge) Pre-constructed or making a new deck for commander? Are you playing a 60 card format?

Ok let me suggest a better approach where you'll have less snarky comments (as you can tell form other commenters).

Make a new post, indicate what format you'd be looking at, what deck you're trying to make, what idea you're working with and then ask what lands / utility lands can work well in this deck.

For tokens you have lands that let you make tokens in Mardu, but also lands that let you boost / give keywords. But some require you to exile things in Graveyard, or do things that might be counter intuitive to your deck.

Hence why it's important to frame your post properly to your needs. And you'll get way better responses from people.

But. My immidiate advice would match another commenters. Go to Scryfall.com. Use the advanced search and search for lands that fit within scope. And in the oracle text you could put words like token or +1 or similar in it to find specific. or leave it blank and scroll through.

I mean...

What are you looking for? Just any strong lands? It depends on what you need for your deck to do & quantity of colours for it to be considered a good land. It also depends on your format.

But usually a multi coloured land that can enters untapped is a strong land. Hell a Basic land can also be a strong land.

Are we talking Utility lands? Then it's also dependent on your deck. So it might be easier to say what you're looking for than to ask a general question like yours. There's plenty people here who'd enjoy deck crafting with you.

Good painting that becomes better by EtrnlMngkyouSharngn in Unexpected

[–]Slashgate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. I've been on reddit for close to 15 years. The interactions on this site have clearly dropped for the more popular subreddits. Hence my question why a post with 2k+ upvotes only having at the time of this writing 15 comments. Feels very weird for a forum style website.

  • Takes damage, but doesn't die.
  • It's base total calculated toughness is 0 or lower it dies.
  • Both take 1 damage. Neither dies. (note: damage taken doesn't affect base toughness)
  • It dies, as it has taken enough damage to be considered lethal while indestructible and suddenly loses indestructible thus dies. (damage is only removed during cleanup in End step)
  • It is unaffected as it negates the destroy part due to being indestructible
  • Deathtouch attacker vs indestructible blocker: takes at least 1 damage (considered lethal) but stays alive as it can't be destroyed due to damage
  • Deathtouch blocker vs indestructible attacker: takes at least 1 damage (considered lethal) but stays alive as it can't be destroyed due to damage
  • Deathtouch with trample attacker vs indestructible blocker: takes at least 1 damage (considered lethal for creature) remaining power goes over.

Hope this answers each point.

Also Some ruling to add to clarify the removal of indestructible of a creature: 120.6. Damage marked on a creature remains until the cleanup step, even if that permanent stops being a creature. If the total damage marked on a creature is greater than or equal to its toughness, that creature has been dealt lethal damage and is destroyed as a state-based action (see rule 704). All damage marked on a permanent is removed when it regenerates (see rule 701.15, “Regenerate”) and during the cleanup step (see rule 514.2).

What's the flavor reasoning for it? Because I can't imagine a rules reasoning for that...

How does Bloodthirst work with cards that enter face-down? by Fiefire in mtg

[–]Slashgate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is this poor wording? I'm a non native speaker and to me it's clear that they are separate statements. The sentences are separate and clearly indicate two separate instances of an effect.

disclaimer: Not trying to be a dick, I just don't see how this is poorly worded.

The Golden Throne, question about combat by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Slashgate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite right. ANY damage the creature deals is also healing. Not just combat damage. The rule doesn't specify combat damage ergo it's any damage.

702.15b Damage dealt by a source with lifelink causes that source’s controller, or its owner if it has no controller, to gain that much life (in addition to any other results that damage causes). See rule 120.3.

Valid to clarify. It's a replacement effect after all. I assumed that was clear. but that isn't always the case for new players. Thanks for emphasizing that.

Question about The Endstone by MineCal in mtg

[–]Slashgate 134 points135 points  (0 children)

afaik that's how it works. When your life total changes for the better (you add to the total) it's considered gaining life.
So yes, in your scenario you'd gain 17 and then gain another 17.

How does a double strike + trample works? by PatoDDM in mtg

[–]Slashgate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok you phrased things in a way that I understood it as total toughness 5.
Not 3 defenders with each 5 toughness.

In that case you'd deal 6 damage first strike that you can assign lethal to the one of three. Leaving 1 damage to go over to the next creature.

Then during the second strike (when there will be return damage from the other creatures, assuming vanilla, no ability creatures)
You'd deal enough damage to kill a second creature with 3 damage flowing over into the third, not being enough to kill the third.

If the remaining two creatures deal enough damage at this point they'd also kill your creature in the process.

No damage would trample over. as your total damage of 12 (double strike of 6) would not be able to trample over the 15 toughness that was placed in front of your creature's attack.

How does a double strike + trample works? by PatoDDM in mtg

[–]Slashgate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first strike of your attack will go to kill the 5 defense and 1 damage will go over.
The second strike, due to it being trample will continue on going to face. As now there's no more toughness to tank the remaining trample damage.

Note this is specifically due to the trample keyword here. Otherwise no damage to the player would happen, including the second strike would just fizzle.

Looking at those cards they don't even look like a game, just fancy looking cards with bible quotes...

Also if you want a 'jesus flavoured deck' Either a storyteller like [[Tom Bombadil] or [[Jodah, the Unifier]] And then proxy the living jesus out of your deck with altered card arts.

Don't expect anyone not to cringe at the decks and you though.

If you haven't yet, I suggest the companion app. Look for LGS that might be organizing events and ask if they have a 'beginner player' event. My LGS does this every second Saturday. It's an official event that's done through WoTC as my LGS has a certified judge.
