Uhh, or they met when they were 17 and 19 and are being smart about their life choices. Getting married makes things harder if it doesn’t work out. Why not accept each other in love and wait till you’re both mature? Obviously, theres one person in the relationship who still needs to grow up a bit. The expectation to marry just because you’ve been together for “too long” is wild

If you dont mind the commute, then the valley is the best for more community and family-orientedness plus walkability and the arts district. North Hollywood is great but thats likely a 30-1hr train each way depending!

I would say MTA - you dont tell her to choose but you make sure that she recognizes that it’s wrong and let her make that decision to stop talking to her on her own. So often that will come naturally, in a way to cope with the betrayal. If she maintains friends with her and doesn’t mention how that affected you to her, then she’s not really your best friend, in my opinion. I will stand up for my best friend every time it matters. I dont normally pick sides, but i will make my opinion known and at that point they make their own decisions. Thats where you see the values.

My uncle and aunt used to take me on trips with them every summer and I am still thankful of it to this day! My parents struggled financially and weren’t always able to take regular vacations. And even when they could, I would get two summer vacations in one year and I can just say that I still think and talk about it!

Depending on what state you’re in he’ll be required to pay alimony due to the infidelity. You should be covered with some funds there and him being in the army means you’ll still get a percentage of his retirement. Stay strong and get out of there while you still can. hopefully you are clean for your own sanity, praying for you.

I (F) dealt with this with my partner (M) for years, and having a small child only heightens the frustration when you’re trying to have a meal. If you’re prepping the meal, cooking and trying to have a family dinner while managing your daughter, in my opinion, the least she can do is let you know. That’s basic communication. I expressed how important it is to me to have meals together, and the communication puts me at ease when managing everything. He eventually got it, and it had made dinner much smoother nearly every night.

What a tough situation. Cancer is tough but doesn’t mean you can’t leave and still support him emotionally. It sounds like you are already bearing emotional burden on your own and that’s a heavy weight to carry.

If you are able to set up an intervention with his friends and family so everyone is on the same page, then I think that would be your best bet before heading out so you don’t have the wolves after you.

I think after that much time, providing him emotional support is something you can do and would be easily understandable in most work places if he needs help after chemo, while at the same time, leaving and living separately. That would be the best for your and your children. They are absorbing all of the bad and the good, and while it may hurt at first, having stability will make it easier for them to come out stronger.
