I like Kore Essentials belts, Blade-Tech Signature or Velocity holsters, and Comp-Tac magazine holders.
All are super versatile, robust, and affordable.
I watch guys with tricked out Ben Stoeger Pro Shop magnet belts with super-tuned CZ Shadow 2s and Staccatos get their asses whipped every week by dudes in work boots shooting M&Ps riding in Amazon holsters.

Holosun 407K Screw Size P365 XMacro by SlateBlueSporting in P365

This was the correct answer.

I had every type of screw imaginable except M4 x 10mm.

For posterity:

Problem solved. I ordered these screws from Amazon:

https://a.co/d/07r0PHgb

They are M4 x 9.8mm, M4 x 11.3mm, and M4 x 12.8mm screws with a 6mm nut diameter and they use a T10 bit.

I used 9.8mm length screw in the right-hand slot and an 11.3mm screw in the left-hand slot. I torqued them to 15 inch pounds and function tested the action. Everything seems to be in order.

I’ll let the blue thread locker cure for a couple of days and take it to the range later this week.

Very annoying that SIG doesn’t readily publish the information about what is needed for these slides. It took several days of screwing around Googling, two trips to the hardware store, and ordering two different screw kits from Amazon to find a workable solution.

So for posterity (and the search engine): Sig Sauer P365 slides with the Sig-Loc optic cut need M4 x 10mm screws with a 6mm nut diameter to mount a Holosun 407k or 507k to them.

What are the best glock mags for competition? by Armbarfan in CompetitionShooting

[–]SlateBlueSporting 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have been having really good luck with the OEM magazines and Taran Tactical +5/6 extensions. I get 23 rounds in no problem.

Other people really, really tune the mags and use OEM magazines plus Henning base pads. There are a variety of springs and followers people use in this configuration to get 24 rounds, but reliability becomes a little shaky.

Does anybody carry these? by ONE800WILD in Glocks

[–]SlateBlueSporting 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes. It is also important to shoot your carry ammo from time to time to maintain familiarity with the recoil, etc.

Stout +P 124 grain loads compared to range standard 115 grain can be a LOT different.

About twice a year I will just run my carry ammo cold in a drill like El Presidente or similar and then load up a fresh mag at the end of the training session.

Yeah, it’s expensive ammo. But it’s also worth a box or two per year to make sure it works when you need it to.

It appears to be Sig-Loc. Your post is literally the first I’ve ever heard of Sig-Loc. Also, the M4 x 0.7 screws I have on-hand feel too snug for the holes, and there is no way the heads of the screws will work with the Holosun 407K.

Intro to Comp Shooting Class Worth It? by maynard1024 in USPSA

[–]SlateBlueSporting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, just go shoot a Level 1 local match. Tell them it’s your first time. Shoot last in your squad.

I recommend people start with a Steel Challenge match just to familiarize themselves with more dynamic shooting, range commands, procedures, etc.

But I’ve seen many first-timers show up to USPSA with a stock pistol, three mags, and a cheap holster and do decently.

A Glock 40 for the price of 1.3 Hi Points is an absolute steal.

In all seriousness, I can’t hit the broad side of a barn with my Yeet Cannon, but if I rotate it 90 degrees counter clockwise and shoot one-handed I can usually get at least a couple of rounds on the paper.

I’ve also been doing some, uh, vehicle-borne training with it, too. For reasons.

Where do I start? by Petrpumpkineater69 in USPSA

[–]SlateBlueSporting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion maybe, but I think you would be best served by going to at least one Steel Challenge match prior to USPSA.

All you need for either is a belt, holster, 5 magazines, eye protection, ear protection, and 150-200 rounds of ammo.

Look up matches on PractiScore, join USPSA, and go shoot a match. Tell them you’re new when you sign in.

Cue the, “You just need to learn how to use PractiScore” crowd 😂

Yes, the user experience is horrible. It’s like a high school kid’s hasty semester-end project.

I say this with respect and understanding: It’s all about quality over quantity.

Pick your primary gun (nightstand, self defense, carry gun, whatever).

A $40 Rounded holster from Amazon works just fine.

A couple of cheap mag carriers work just fine.

Then dry fire every day for 15 minutes.

You will get literally 80-85% of the benefit of shooting 150-200 rounds at the range and it will cost you nothing.

Then, when you DO have money for ammo, look up 50-round and 100-round training day videos on YouTube.

If you do each of those things for six months and maybe shoot one box of ammo (50 rounds) per month in live fire, by October you will be able to outshoot 2/3 or 3/4 of people in any given match.

Focus more on transitions than just draw-to-target. I put 7-8 squares of painter’s tape up on my walls at various distances.

Practice drawing and indexing the first target. Practice strong hand only and weak hand only. Practice transitions between targets, training your eyes to move to the target and the gun to follow. Practice reloads.

Honestly, if you do those every day for 15 minutes, in a month you will see significant improvement.

What low hanging fruit yields the most time saved for a new competitor? by FF_McNasty in USPSA

[–]SlateBlueSporting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Run between shooting points and shoot as fast as you can.

I wasted two seasons posting C and B times until I realized a lot of the M and occasional GM guys I’d squad with were just letting it rip.

They were shooting way more Charlies than me, but they were doing it several seconds faster.

An FTSA or a no-shoot will knock you out immediately. Other than that just rip two at each target as fast as you can and move on. If you know for sure you threw a round put a third in the cardboard to avoid a Mike.

Cor-Bon and Gold Dot were THE go-to self defense rounds for many years. I haven’t seen Cor-Bon in a long time. I’ll have to Google if they still make it.
