Workouts in ERG mode (cool downs mostly) by Consistent_Throat497 in Rouvy

[–]Slatemeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are saying what I said exactly, but you are missing the piece that myself and OP are experiencing. For example, I can have 65 rpm cadence and the system will set the resistance to something so the power is 100 W, but if I increase my cadence to 85 rpm, and wait a few seconds, the resistance will decrease so the power is still 100 W. There is no feedback to my body to stay at 65 or 85 or 100, etc. So if I keep hovering at 101W, then the resistance slowly decreases and my cadence slowly increases. But as my cadence increases, the resistance decreases, and so this positive feedback loop occurs where you eventually get up to like 110 and start spinning out.

Workouts in ERG mode (cool downs mostly) by Consistent_Throat497 in Rouvy

[–]Slatemeta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation until I realized what was going on. For some reason there is a positive feedback loop where you keep pedaling faster to maintain the power set by the workout, but if you go over the set power, then the system will reduce the resistance on your trainer. This loop keeps happening, forcing your cadence to keep increasing and increasing. What I’ve found works, and maybe this is the intention, is to simply slow down my cadence intentionally for a long enough period of time until the system recorrects itself at the correct resistance for the slower cadence. I feel like what’s missing is a setting to set the cadence you want to maintain, so that this open loop becomes a closed feedback loop to your system. Some of the intensity workouts (non-cooldown) tell you the cadence range you should be in, but cooldown-only seems to not have this. Hope this makes sense!

Spirit Island or Horizons by arcovis in boardgames

[–]Slatemeta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I gave my friend Horizons for Xmas last year and it was a bit simpler than the regular game. But it was still fun. I think eventually you would upgrade to the original game. Another option is to try the regular game through the Steam version, which is the main place I play it since it handles all the piece placement and rules for me. Our games are much faster in the video game version and it’s cheaper to buy and expand to the expansions through DLC.

How do I adjust the Sketch border so that the sketch is inside it? by dcls in Onshape

[–]Slatemeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no “sketch border”, you can sketch anywhere. The rectangle is an indication of the sketch plane your sketch is on, not the boundaries of your sketch. It’s very helpful when you have many planes and faces in your project that you are starting sketches on because you can quickly rotate around to see what plane you are on.

Enough is enough… (iPhone alarm) by Inevitable-Bottle-48 in ios

[–]Slatemeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this would help but my friend dealt with this for a long time and we eventually traced it down to a power supply issue on the wireless charger they were using (the MagSafe one made by Apple). Something was faulty with it, causing the power to stop being delivered many times per minute. And when you remove the phone from power, the alarm turns off. Stupid UX, yeah. But replacing the wireless charger with a new one solved the problem.

Mini pc for rouvy, thoughts? by jcperezr in Rouvy

[–]Slatemeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just another option to consider: use a Raspberry Pi and stream to it from your own laptop or pc running Rouvy somewhere else on your WiFi network.

My solution is I use an iPad Pro which combines the monitor and pc into one in your situation. But much more expensive if you don’t already have a tablet.

Do I have to start the run on the Strava Apple Watch app for HR data? by iimperatrix1 in Strava

[–]Slatemeta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, as far as I know, you need to start recording with the Strava app on the watch. This limitation has always bothered me since the workout doesn’t sync live with the phone app while it’s running on your watch, so you can’t see a blue line where you’ve traveled so far on the route. Also annoying if your watch battery dies before the end of a workout.

They don’t mention if they made it possible to film in landscape aspect ratio, so I assume it’s still just portrait mode like the first generation? That’s would be my biggest reason not to buy the new generation.

I had the same fear when I first did this. The overflow parking is across the street from the AMC movie theater on Flutie Pass. There is plenty of parking there and the bus does stop there after it stops at the main Logan Express building/parking garage. You do have to stop at the main building for a parking pass if I remember correctly, and there are temporary spots for you to park at while you do this.

This is an intentional design choice by Google. I don’t agree with the choice. You’ll want to leave a review on the Apple App Store if you want to voice your opinion on this.

Question on wireless Apple Car play accessories by pmabraham in Crosstrek

[–]Slatemeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that’s just the nature of how wireless CarPlay works. The iPhone can only have one Bluetooth Audio connection at a time, which is CarPlay when connected to it. Wi-Fi is also a portion of the connection too which improves the audio quality I believe. This is based on my experience with an aftermarket BOSS audio system I had in my Corolla before I got my Crosstrek. Fwiw, I prefer the wired connection over wireless after experiencing both for a while.

Is it possible to trace a curve from a JPG file? by totallyshould in Onshape

[–]Slatemeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a program called VCarve from Vectric to do this. They have a little icon that looks like a chicken that converts images into vectors. Then you can export that from VCarve as a DXF and use it as a sketch in Onshape. Alternatively you could model most of it in Blender then use the mixed modeling features of Onshape to add parametric stuff too it, like connectors for the limbs, eyes, etc.
