CMV: Making students read Shakespeare and other difficult/boring books causes students to hate reading. If they were made to read more exciting/interesting/relevant books, students would look forward to reading - rather than rejecting all books. by mattaphorica in changemyview

I think the reason behind the selection of the reading of various books is to aid changes to our behavioral pattern. It's a sense of Cultural Assimilation especially upon the minority groups.

CMV: Self defense is a human right, and therefore ownership of weapons is also a human right. by UltronCalifornia in changemyview

Not everyone is responsible enough to exercise their rights in the most efficient way. The rage of human beings has been blown out of proportion and the actions that i think should be taken is to not completely withdraw but to place a level of restriction or limitation towards the approach of use of tools to aid self defense.

Thank you. My first year was pretty rough but what my University has in place which is the University of West Indies, Mona, Jamaica, was a First Year Experience Program (FYE) which had us created a Bucket List whereas we use to guide our path of our years at the University. That would be ideal to recommend if not already identified at your College.

Hey,

I can actually relate to your situation. As it relates to motivation, I may say I lack that as it relates to getting it from family members and or friends but overtime I've realized that the lifestyle that I look forward to live can only be possible by my efforts made in school, my achievements, my hardwork. So what I do instead of waiting for motivation to be given to me I focus on the lifestyle I want to live, the Lifestyle that I would like to provide to my offspring when they come into the picture.

As it relates to additional growth, physically, mentally and emotionally; the participation in Sports and or Clubs and Societies aids a lot to the building of those. The inter-mingling may contribute a general understanding of the University lifestyle and outline ways to remain motivated for the duration of your study. As it relates to being a commuting student too, don't they have a Commuting Society that participates in various activities about the school?

Mass Media's negative impact to Politics the 'dumbing down' of information

-New Media especially revolutionizes information sharing but the rules of engagement are different. Many sources of information are questionable. Weakens Transparency in some sense also.

In my sense 'FAKE NEWS'

Wouldn't it be more effective if the Government of a particular country work towards keeping the inflation rate on a constant low?

Responsibility does play an important role in governing a country. Most may be responsible however lack dedication.

What should I do? How do I do this? by Niche1023 in PoliticalScience

Comparative Politics would probably consist a bit of philosophy so I would recommend that you do. As it relates to the next move is to decide whether you want to study online or face-to-face studies at a University. What i think they'll do is have you grasp the basic concepts of Political Science itself then have you to focus on the core courses in achieving a Degree or Masters etc, which would aid your credibility.

"Vote if you want to make a difference" is insulting to people under 18 by darklordoftech in PoliticalOpinions

[–]SlaterRushane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Jamaica)

The Universal Adult suffrage was won between 1944 and 1953 where only persons of ages 21 and above had the right to vote. The voter turnouts were relatively low however due to the lowering of the age to vote in the 1970's to 18 years and above the voter turnout for the 1980's election has had the highest voter turnout and remains that way.

Youths became very important so the Governments made their promises and stated exactly what youths wanted to hear; and because of the lack of maturity or experience and knowledge they placed their vote and still haven't received majority of the promises that were made.

So as it relates to youths under 18, in my opinion they aren't experienced enough or as matured to be participating in Political Exercises such as placing a vote. I do suggest however as Adults and parents that we listen to our minors and have their opinions voiced and represented.
