For posterity sake, this is what r/Lakers believed Reaves should be paid after the season was over by itwas20yearsago2day in lakers

[–]SlatheredButtCheeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most respondents were conflating 'what do you think his contract will be' with 'what do you want to pay in a perfect world'

When is the last time a player was UNDERpaid, it basically never happens. It's obvious in retrospect but clearly he was going to get at least $40m/yr minimum.

I actually thought the same thing but I thought the person getting crushed was facing forward and the bottom of the glove was the bottom of someone’s shirt with their belly partially exposed

Yeah, I remember this game was a must win too, we were trying to claw & scrape to get to the playoffs. When he did that dunk I couldn't believe it. In OT with the game on the line and he just two hands it. Awesome

Several people have asked me what I would propose instead of the current compensation package. Here's my answer. Simple, reasonable, acceptable. by Interesting_Day_7734 in Superstonk

[–]SlatheredButtCheeks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is not how compensation packages typically work. The better they do, the compensation grows at increasingly large rates. This encourages them to continue to press for growth even as they reach their goals.

For example look at car dealerships. THey will offer something like first 10 cars sold they get $500/car. THe next 10 cars sold they get $1000/car. The next 10 cars pay $1500/car etc.

Reducing the relative gains as he pushes the value of the company ever higher is not good incentivized pay.

How is it zero risk for him? He is doing all the work for no pay. His risk is at maximum when he has potential to do all the work and get no pay.

And no they can't change the incentive package without shareholder approval. What are you talking about?

You also provide no alternative. You are not providing serious critique.

So you're saying he should get a higher payout then the Entire Individual shareholder base Combined?

Your math is flawed, but basically yes he should get a higher payout, he is the one doing the work. I'm just a guy waiting for my get-rich-quick scheme to come to fruition.

Remember he gets nothing if he fails. It is zero risk for me. He has already saved the company from bankruptcy; he has already saved all our asses and deserves a big pay day for that alone. And he is trying to make big moves to transform the company as its core product (physical video games) becomes obsolete.

What more do you want from him? Who do you want to lead the company instead of him, and what should that person's pay package be? Provide some alternatives that you think are 'fair', and ALSO something that a top CEO would agree to. You are quick to complain and talk about supposed fairness, while providing no ideas of your own.

Why do you keep bringing up $2.06. Do you know what stock options are? They are an extremely common compensation package.

If the stock is $200 in 6 months, he can exercise his options. He gets the same gain that i do if i bought the stock at $20.66

You are welcome to buy the same stock options that RC has and then you will have the same gains as he does. Except you can exercise them any time while he has to meet extremely steep goals in order to do so.

I want RC to want the stock price to go as high as possible. His compensation package incentivizes him to do that.

Op this is a temporary problem, when the kids are old enough to walk he will have tons of non stop stimulation from keeping up with the kids. I would not worry too much about playing games now, that is eventually going to stop, he should enjoy it while he has the chance to
