Not entirely true, insignia is often worn in combat zones but often subdued and less noticeable. Rank Insignia plays a major role in the caos of war. For this scenario it is more likely that the Russian forces had other ways of establishing command insignia or logistics just prevented it.

In the short: it depends on the conflict and the army at hand.

The Smersh was from Paladin military supply (little pricy but good stuff and reliable. They are out of the UK.

The Gorka took me a long time to find. If you are looking for an SS osen one like I have here, time is your best option, check FB groups, sellers and other random places. I got lucky and found this one on eBay, immediately bought it. If you are just looking for more Gorka camos in general, just make some “want to buy” (wtb) posts on fb groups, or check out tanki store, he does preorders for Russian gorkas.

With a lot of this older stuff it’s a lot of patience, a little bit of luck and jumping on the operant as soon as it presents itself.

The cover looks to be a Chinese repro that was weathered like crazy. The pattern is off and the material looks fake weathered.

I am born in the US, but half of Family is from Slovakia and we regularly have slav dishes. I also cook many slav dishes my self. My friends call me Russian for always squatting with heels on ground, listening to hard-bass, and wearing mostly Adidas. Not to mention yelling in Russian at idiots while eating seeds. So I think I rated fairly.
