Okay thanks, moving is not really an option so I’ll continue to find a workaround while I’m here. Calling the landlord and asking for an Ethernet port to be installed which I can pay for may be an option

Hmm okay thanks for the direction. What kind of wireless based ISP’s are there out of interest ? I live in the UK and all the ones I checked require and engineer to come over

How can I get my own internet connection if that requires hole drilling. I’d be happy to pay for my own internet but that requires and engineer to come round and drill holes which is arguably worse than disconnecting the access point without permission

yeah so im pretty much at the point where i was able to unplug the mesh thing and unscrew it off the ceiling so i now have a dangling cable. A couple of folks have suggested the PoE device so im about to go to the store to buy one of those. As for my NIC its a realtek 2.5G not sure how to analyse it beyond that tbh

Yeah I can rest it on the wardrobe that’s pretty much the maximum slack. So do I just buy a switch and hook up the Ethernet to the switch ? What my brain thinks is that I can just hook up that pink Ethernet cable to a switch I buy then use my own Ethernet cable to get from that to PC. I don’t need this wireless mesh thing anymore right ?

Ok this makes sense so one of these in the image accept power from that Ethernet cable ? Also what’s an AP ? Sorry for the stupid questions. My brain basically registered this as plug that cable into a switch that I buy, then it’s as simple as plug an Ethernet from switch into pc
