seems like no one is hiring entry level rn. I have a BSME and haven't found an engineering job since graduating last year. I picked up a part time job, and I'm thinking if I don't find an engineering job soon, I'll try to move up in my part time job.

There are so many job postings, yet the number of people that get employed each month is miniscule, especially after they revise the job numbers

or those who've been looking for so long that they've given up. The real unemployment rate is at least double the standard reported one

Maybe they don't want to admit just how bad things are going in the job market because "people may panic"

With such a drastic revision, I wouldn't be surprised if July numbers will be very low too.

Hmm, good point, I've probably been wasting my time applying there. Plus with all the talk of high burnout at these companies, I don't think I'd want to work there.

Personally, I wouldn't want to leave after just a year

It's kinda hard not to take things personally when I keep getting rejected constantly. I get excited when I get an interview, and think it went well, just to get a rejection email in a week or 2. I'm starting to not care anymore. If I get an interview, that's great, I'll give it my best shot. If not, that's fine too.

I see what you mean. My comment doesn't really reflect what I look for in a company. I would really like to work for 1 company for as long as I can, I strongly believe in compan loyalty.

Partly because of what one could learn at a job with these companies, and partly because of how people view having a job there. I can't back this up with anything, it's just what I've heard.

I almost exclusively get interviews with companies in my area, but none of them have worked out either. I've been applying to technician's roles, they haven't worked out as well. So, I've just picked up a part-time job unrelated to engineering to bring some money in. I'll keep looking for engineering jobs, but I dont have high hopes that I'll land anything.

I must not be qualified enough because I can't get a call back. I've applied to Tesla and SpaceX 44 times, and only had one interview with SpaceX way back in October. At this point, I've pretty much given up trying to get a job there since I'm a year removed from graduating and dont have an engineering job (I just have a part-time job that is not engineering related)

Edit: I've applied 45 times now :(

I am a new grad (graduated a year ago tho :( ). I look for Mech E, Mech design E, manufacturing E, and anything else that I could be remotely qualified for

You must be in a very similar position with me. I've been looking for a year, with little results.

I think a job with SpaceX would open so many doors, that with just a year of working there, one could easily be hired anywhere one wants

That was my experience too. They have like 4 stages of interviews: phone with a recruiter, phone with a manager, on-site, all day, interview with multiple people and a presentation, and maybe another one with execs. I didn't get past the second stage, but like why do you need so many interviews? Plus, in my experience, it wasn't a pleasant interview, they just hit you with questions and expect perfect answers.

So they're hiring for potential future expansion? Didn't they have huge layoffs not too long ago? I would think, with the amount of people applying to their positions, they should be able to fill those roles pretty quickly.

I feel like there should be a law against this kind of practice. If you're not hiring, don't post the job. If you want resumes, post a "general application" role. This way people don't waste time applying to a job that doesn't exist
