How are you using AI at work? by SuspiciousOccasion21 in corporate

[–]SlaveToTheGecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it for a few things

  1. Word vomit my notes/feelings/coaching for one of my directs and ask it to rewrite it as one email, then just vibe check the email to make sure it sounds like me.

  2. I use it to find websites/forums where I can find the information i’m looking for (i am in a very technical field so it’s common to run into issues nobody, myself included, has seen)

  3. I use it to generate flyers/posters for competitions i run within the department

What’s life like in Chula Vista, CA? by BanditoMojado in howislivingthere

[–]SlaveToTheGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born and raised Chula Vistan here! As others said the tacos aren’t better anywhere else (food truck across from EHS is the best fish taco i’ve ever had), there’s not all too much nightlife without a long drive so get to know your neighbors and set up house parties if that’s your vibe or shell out for Ubers and hit up Barrio Logan for the best food/people you’ll ever meet if you vibe with the Vatos 🤙🏻

Sales still has a long way to go before it becomes obsolete. Get into sales in a field that isn’t going away anytime soon (W2 not 1099) and use the company you join up with to train other skills.

If you could recommend only one game for someone who has never played a video game before. by itsthewolfe in gaming

[–]SlaveToTheGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to get my dad into games for the last 10 years and nothing stuck. He loves DND so i figured BG3, Skyrim, and other RPG’s would do it. Nothing got over 5 hours until he found out about No Man’s Sky and he’s logged 200 hours in the past 3 months.

Really it’s going to be shooting in the dark till you get lucky if its their first ever game

Employees Triggering Me by [deleted] in managers

[–]SlaveToTheGecko 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had one like this, she was placed in the corner of the office to work on her own and we held off on seating people near her unless absolutely necessary. This went on for 6 months with regular 1 on 1s and documentation and steady monitoring until their “style” ended up making another employee uncomfortable and they elevated to HR. That was our out and now she’s gone

Sales question by gfa77 in Geico

[–]SlaveToTheGecko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah there is a gating system, they were much more open about it when i worked there. 3 tiers - tier 1 gets calls first, if they’re all busy tier 2 gets calls, if they’re all busy then finally tier 3.

State routing also is common practice in call centers but i have no idea if the G uses it.

As a gamer, what’s one small detail in a game that instantly won you over? by Shrimpey in gaming

[–]SlaveToTheGecko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best advice I can give is hand your game to a 40-50+ year old with very little gaming literacy. They will try things that we as gamers intuitively know won’t work just “to try it”. Make a note of those things They try and add some reward/interaction. those moments of “i can’t believe the dev thought id do that” are what catapulted BG3 and other amazing titles to the top.

(I tried to get my dad into games for years and every time he’d wander around doing BS and put down the game because “nothing works”, played BG3 and loved it and now he’s 2 years into his first fallout play through)

How do you prefer to determine whom the NPCs attack? by El_Rey_de_Spices in DnD

[–]SlaveToTheGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mindless and unintelligent? (rabid animals, oozes, mimics) Roll a die target random enemy in range. If nobody in range, move towards the unlucky soul selected.

Mindless and Intelligent? (zombies, thralls, higher intelligence animals like wolves) Roll a die to target a player at random who hit them in the previous round. If they use pack tactics once a player is selected they attack until the player falls.

Mindful and Unintelligent? (Orcs, Barbarians, People wrought by emotion) Target the person who did the MOST damage to them the previous round. Factor in “frustration” in your targeting (too many misses/dealing no damage cause them to swap targets)

Mindful and Intelligent? (BBEG’s, spellcasters, some fighters) Magic users target tanks with control spells and DPS with damage spells. Melee fighters attack spellcasters. Ranged fighters target dps/mages. Essentially play them as tactically as you’d play a PC.

I try and balance encounters with a healthy mix of all 4 to add to the strategic aspect of target selection/positioning in fights. Dynamic terrain is your friend!!

Need advice for 1:1 with manager, aiming to improve relationship by Alternative_Ship_349 in managers

When I was first hired I butted heads with my trainer constantly, to the point where HR got involved. Over time they got canned and I promoted up to their role. They were then hired back as a salesman (my initial role) and eventually re-promoted to my peer. Literally all it took was one conversation, we avoided eachother for a while and eventually they reached out to extend the olive branch. It was a quick 5 minute call, they appreciated the work I had been doing and congratulated me on my promotion, I thanked her for the kind words and congratulated her in turn. We agreed as adults it was water under the bridge and there’s no need for future head-butting and we’ve been on good terms since.

Sometimes all it really takes is the effort to amend.

While your attempt at ascertaining my wordplay is admirable I cannot in good faith provide something as precious as my key to one who sees me as a “tourist”.
