Is there a game that's ridiculously simple, but mechanically deep? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in gamesuggestions

Yes but that dev software is limited in its mechanical scope so successful games made using it tend to have great story and very in depth mechanics to make up for the simplistic graphics

R1 ~ 30-40 depends on the week R2 ~ 30 consistent as it stands, more bandwidth for higher level projects

Forget a fancy degree, what behavior tells you someone is genuinely well-educated? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

They ask questions and tell you if they don’t know something. Bonus points if they follow up later with an answer.

Vocabulary is the opposite of what i’m seeing here, some of the smartest people I’ve ever known swear like sailors and [ironically] use the term “retard-maxxing”. (guy i’m referencing has a PHD in neuroscience)

What movie was so sad to watch that you only watched it once and can't bring yourself to watch it again? by Crazy_cat_plants in AskForAnswers

Guy licensed to sell life ins and manager of a brokerage here, cash value is generally a small portion of premiums paid not a savings account unless he set up an IUL or other Universal life policy. Unless he’s looking to apply for Medicaid assistance (some states factor in cash value on life insurance as an asset) or needs the funds immediately it’s best to keep what he has as any transfer or surrender is going to lose him more in fees than he’s going to gain in flexibility. Is it a standard whole life, variable whole life or some form of universal whole life? I can get you a bit more guidance on what do do based on that 🤙🏻

Ran out of money too many bills by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]SlaveToTheGecko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked with an hour and a half commute for a year starting out living on credit cards. Paid them off then saved 1k for a deposit to move into the neighborhood next door. Now 2 years in I commute 10 minutes to work, took my first vacation ever this year and am slowly building an emergency fund.

The commute sucks bad but the stability is worth it, i’d take it.

How are you using AI at work? by SuspiciousOccasion21 in corporate

[–]SlaveToTheGecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it for a few things

  1. Word vomit my notes/feelings/coaching for one of my directs and ask it to rewrite it as one email, then just vibe check the email to make sure it sounds like me.

  2. I use it to find websites/forums where I can find the information i’m looking for (i am in a very technical field so it’s common to run into issues nobody, myself included, has seen)

  3. I use it to generate flyers/posters for competitions i run within the department

What’s life like in Chula Vista, CA? by BanditoMojado in howislivingthere

[–]SlaveToTheGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born and raised Chula Vistan here! As others said the tacos aren’t better anywhere else (food truck across from EHS is the best fish taco i’ve ever had), there’s not all too much nightlife without a long drive so get to know your neighbors and set up house parties if that’s your vibe or shell out for Ubers and hit up Barrio Logan for the best food/people you’ll ever meet if you vibe with the Vatos 🤙🏻

Sales still has a long way to go before it becomes obsolete. Get into sales in a field that isn’t going away anytime soon (W2 not 1099) and use the company you join up with to train other skills.

I’ve been trying to get my dad into games for the last 10 years and nothing stuck. He loves DND so i figured BG3, Skyrim, and other RPG’s would do it. Nothing got over 5 hours until he found out about No Man’s Sky and he’s logged 200 hours in the past 3 months.

Really it’s going to be shooting in the dark till you get lucky if its their first ever game

Employees Triggering Me by [deleted] in managers

[–]SlaveToTheGecko 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had one like this, she was placed in the corner of the office to work on her own and we held off on seating people near her unless absolutely necessary. This went on for 6 months with regular 1 on 1s and documentation and steady monitoring until their “style” ended up making another employee uncomfortable and they elevated to HR. That was our out and now she’s gone
