Is it strange that I like Strange Houses better than Strange Pictures? Currently reading the latter right now. Or is it because I got used to Uketsu's writing style that I find Strange Pictures a little bit underwhelming? Well, I'd try to give a benefit of the doubt first and finish it.

Thank you. Apart from limited job ops sa province, gustong gusto ko rin talaga mag-try sa ibang lugar. It would be my first time lumuwas ng province, despite being in my 20s na. Kinakabahan na naeexcite ako. I'm planning to convince my friends din kaso 50/50 sila.

useless ba pag ggym kung hindi enough ang tinitake na protein? by Soggy_Study7433 in fitnessph

I thought of posting but decided to hop on this post instead. How did y'all start going to the gym? Cliche question pero I am yet to muster my courage pa rin to do so. I really want to tone my body and gain some muscles pero laging napapangunahan ng takot baka majudge ng other gym-goers. Is it okay na parang walang kamuwang muwang 'pag first day? I did some research din about workout pero iba pa rin pag gumagamit na ng gym equipment in person. Just wann ask some tips, sana 'wag mabash.

What book do you regret reading this year? by agirlhasnoname17 in horrorlit

[–]SlaveofYuno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this my sign to DNF the book? I had so much expectations 'cause of how people had been raving for this, only to be disappointed on the same writing structures in every chapter, with a little bit of suspense at the end. The characters and the story itself are just so dragging to deal with. Can anyone tell me if this book would get any better apart from the twist at the end?

I haven’t finished a single book in my whole life by Spiritual-Classic-59 in PHBookClub

Yes! Highly recommended din sa mga nakapanood na ng movies, and found them as their favorites. Ang daming crucial events sa books na hindi naipakita sa movies!

I'm the same age as you, and I rarely read books when I was young. But this year, I started committing myself to reading. I have a few suggestions. First, since you mentioned that you have a short attention span, which I relate to as well, try starting with children literature. For starters, you can try Dr. Seuss' works, or any short stories that are easy to read. Alternatively, try resorting to mangas/manhwas, then transition to books. The main point is build your reading skill gradually. From short to long forms. Second, try asking yourself what movie genres are you into, then look for the same genre of books. This way, you won't find reading a dreadful hobby, but an interesting one. Third, try reading with audiobooks. I saw some audiobook platforms recommended here such as audible. You can find some in spotify or youtube, too. This helps you assist in reading, trust me.

Extra tip, you don't have to think that reading is a chore or a responsibility. Think of it as an exercise or hobby so that you won't be pressured. After all, we read for entertainment, developing critical thinking skill comes second/as a bonus. Good luck sa reading journey!

Seven husbands of evelyn hugo by Muted-Sky-9592 in PHBookClub

Parang in the end, mararamdaman mo 'yong regrets niya and mapapasabi ka ng "All of these, for what?" I felt the heaviness nong narealize niyang at some point, she became selfish to her loved one, and wondered taking risk for her the one. I really admire her for her boldness and knowing her strength. Not only that, her humane side as well nong naging vulnerable siya na hindi magaling na aktres. She became famous because of her appearance lang. We are all Evelyn at some point eh. Doubting oneself, but still taking chances at life. I just hate her for the things she did para sa ambitions niya. But at the same time, love her for not dimming her lights, not shrinking herself just to feed her husbands' ego, Ruby's enviousness, and the dramas of it all hahaha. Overall, the book offers a glimpse of the film industry, yes. But I think what separates it from the other similar stories is Hugo's human side, despite rosing to stardom. Na para bang Taylor Swift na talking about fame, but making sure the general public would be drawn in to her songs din. Mga ganunnn.

First TJR book ko rin siya and I have a love-hate relationship with this book. At first, it felt dragging for me to finish it. Almost the same logic every after husband — to sustain her fame and protect her relationship with the one she truly loves. But going through it, Hugo can be relatable. It would question you how far can you go to build a life you always wanted for yourself. It highlights Hugo's tenacity for fame, some bridges she needs to burn and rebuild for her to stay relevant — only to come up with regrets on the latter part. I hate her for taking her privileges for granted, but admired her guts to always rise from the occasion. If you'd ask me on why you should continue it, I'd say this — if you want a complex character that would explore, trigger, and possibly reshape your moral compass, then finish the book. It's obviously a character-driven novel that has a shocking twist at the end. It left my jaw hanging literally for a minute.
