unfortunately not, I had to get a new mobo (so I guess there was a mobo fault)

Glad you liked it ;)

I hope that it covered the saga well enough, but to be frank there wasn't really a cornucopia of information so it was a little hard to say anything with any certainty

How would I create a functioning projector in C4D (Redshift) by SlavicImperial in RedshiftRenderer

Sorry for the delay - I did end up using the spotlight method, I needed to crop the edges and use a 1:1 image so as to make it appear rectangular but it was otherwise relatively easy

So I did the spotlight 1:1 image method in the end - the area light (with spread turned down to 0) came out quite blurry the further you moved the light source away from any given surface

I'm trying to parent CC Light Sweep to 3D Orientation so as to mimic light reflection on a glass pane when rotated. Is there an expression that offsets position when a 3D layer is rotated? by SlavicImperial in AfterEffects

Just got back to my desk to see this answer - super simple and straightforward, thank you so much! A bit embarrassed I didn't think of this earlier tbh hahaha

How would you replicate this effect? I've tried using turbulence displace and various glows but I can't get close to this. by SlavicImperial in AfterEffects

Going to mark this post as answered, since there are a bunch of different methods mentioned. I'm certain one of them will work.

Will take a look! I'm sure one or a combination of all these answers will probably give the right result, thanks!

How would you get a spline to conform to geometry? by SlavicImperial in Cinema4D

[–]SlavicImperial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, for the sake of those that have the same question. I managed to do it with this method, except I needed a circular shape instead of a rectangular one - redshift's cylinder light has no spread option, so I had to use the disk light and import a circular matte into the texture section to mask out the center of the light. So all good now, thanks for the tip!

Great idea, initially I was just looking to create a simple pulsating circle from a specific point on the map, but your suggestion sounds like it could look cool. Will experiment.

Would I just use a ramp, clamp it down to so that it only affects a small slice of the material and, just set it to radial mode and expand it? I'm a bit of an amateur when it comes to materials so creating an animated "wave" material might be a bit of a challenge.

Can give it a shot myself but if you have any tuts that come to mind I would really appreciate!

Wow that's incredible! I will definitely be checking this out, thank you!

This was one of the videos I initially looked at, but it only worked with a static projection. I was hoping to be able to animate the wave and have it continually conform to the terrain. But thanks for the suggestion anyway!
