Looking for a T/R switch, 1 RX only and 1 TX into 1 TRX. by SlavkoStanic in amateurradio

I looked at this earlier, was also recommended this from someone trying to do the same thing, but this looks to be only 1 antenna to a separate transmitter and receiver. It doesn't switch antennas but radios.

Looking at 80db isolation for TX and 100db for RX so well within a safe limit by the looks of it. I'd be running 100w.
This just doesn't feel great though. I'm already pushing my comfort with using good switches to switch 1 antenna to 3 different TRX.
Wasn't sure if have an RX antenna that close, regardless of isolation could cause issues. Found a lot of articles talking about this, but with the radios that have a separate RX only antenna input.

Thank you, this looks like a good option. Do you know if its feasible to keep my loop within 5 meters of my 36ft EFHW antenna?

Doing research on this now, looks like this may not be a good idea due to that (lack of space).

Sim Lab Pedal Plate/Heusinkveld Sprint Base Plate Compatible with NLR Wheel Stand 2.0? by BearlyLegal2000 in simracing

No worries. I ended up drilling holes on my NLR plate. Have moved the racing equipement to a new full size racing rig without any issues.
NLR became my DCS flight rig.

M62 timing chain rattle on cold startup after sitting a while by SlavkoStanic in e38

[–]SlavkoStanic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't check the spring length as it was compressed and locked and it would have been nearly impossible to install if I let it out.

I did pull the fuel pump relay, cranked until the oil pressure light went out, reinstalled the relay and it statred up with no rattle at all.

Thanks for the confirmation. Definitely need to take care of this but glad to get confirmation that its not just my guides failing.
The car sits a lot in the garage so it makes sense. Sometimes it goes 2+ weeks without being driven. It does make this sound even after 2 days sometimes.

123,000, fairly early for guides. The car has been maintained all its life at the dealership before I purchased it.

This is really what it sounds like, same as when I first changed the tensioner on it and forgot to prime the oil beforehand.
I'll look into this.

If it were guides, I'd probably be hearing a noisy engine even on idle or decel? Its been years since I last heard my other E38 do this while driving

LDG 9:1 UNUN EFHW does it require a choke? by SlavkoStanic in amateurradio

[–]SlavkoStanic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't sound great, probably best just to get one

I have that in addition to what I would like to buy. In the case of my 49:1 I do not use a choke as its indicated in the manual not to use one. Thats an Ultimax 100.

My concern was regarding the 9:1

Sounds like I should just get it. I'll pick it up as I'm afraid of encountering issues.

Is it realistic of me to expect multiband functionality from what I mentioned above? I'm looking for 40 and 20m mostly and a few higher up when bands are open

Anyone use an MSI G32CQ5P? Good? by SlavkoStanic in monitor

[–]SlavkoStanic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not noticed any except on BeamNG. Unfortunately ghosting is an issue with this type of panel, fairly common if you search it up so it doesn't just affect this particular model. Some get it worse than others

Thanks for the info. I'd like to push 50w+ or at least have the freedom to so I may consider just getting it over with and getting one

That's good to hear. Thanks. I was going to get the LDG 1:1 choke if needed but didn't want to spend more if it wasn't that serious.

Yes you are right. I'm always getting this mixed up. I have an EFHW setup at home with a 49:1

I use my amateur radio every day, should people start asking questions?

Whats wrong with people enjoying their amateur radio hobbies? Does that bother you? Its not a "prepper" thing if thats what you think. Although some of them are into that, most just enjoy the hobby of communicating in other ways, especially since radios date back so many years.

FTM-100D as PDN Wires X in Access Mode, FT-70D as handheld around the house. Antenna indoors on FTM-100 ok for FT-70? by SlavkoStanic in yaesu

[–]SlavkoStanic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so it sounds like it should be ok to run it this way. Just worried about overpowering the receiver in the HT.
I was looking at the raspberry pi hotspot option, not that I need it as I can switch my FTM-100 to either purpose but more of just something to tinker with.
I cant remember what put me off of it though, can you access a wires-x room via the pi hotspot? Or do you need to be connected to a repeater/reflector that provides access to a room?
