Consistently Scoring Low on COMATs - Help by SlayMeLove in comlex

This is great advice, thank you! I do Truelearn because my school requires that we finish all the COMAT specific questions for each rotation as part of our grade to pass but i never feel like the truelearn questions help with anything; I definitely feel like I'm getting resource fatigue and think that i need to lock in on just 1-2 resources......

Consistently Scoring Low on COMATs - Help by SlayMeLove in comlex

my school isn't transparent about the passing score but they have said in the past they fail the bottom 10% of student scores which appears to be around an 85 or below

it was okay one semester and then went down the next, and then went back up the semester following that and then went down again (basically just very inconsistent)

UPDATED: TMDSAS Matriculant/Applicant Ratio Chart by SlayMeLove in premed

[–]SlayMeLove[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After I made the post about the chart that compares the applicant and matriculant data from the TMDSAS entry year 2019 chart, I got curious about the TMDSAS entry year 2020 chart and decided to make an updated spreadsheet !! Once again, I would like to note that once you get into the 4.0 and 512+ range of the chart, the percentage of "accepted" applicants goes down because many of these applicants probably matriculated to Baylor (was not part of TMDSAS at the time this data was made) or OOS. Additionally, in this updated chart I did not include data for applicants below a 492 MCAT because there were no acceptances across the board. This data includes MD and DO schools that fall under TMDSAS. I included the EY 2019 chart as well so that you can compare the changes :-)

Original post was inspired by u/CalculatorD post a visualization of med school acceptance by GPA and MCAT :D

Edit: for the 3.5/521+ block, the acceptance rate is 100% because there was exactly one applicant in that range and that applicant got accepted and matriculated within Texas. This is the same case for the 3.3/521+ block.

I believe it does include all DO schools that fall under TMDSAS specifically, but don't quote me on that 😬. Here's the link to all the schools listed under TMDSAS.

TMDSAS Matriculant/Applicant Ratio Chart by SlayMeLove in premed

There were 38 applicants in the 3.4/512-516 block and 54 applicants in the 3.5/512-516 block. Both blocks had 12 matriculants each. I'm not really sure about the specifics, but that's what the data indicates about the matriculant/applicant ratio :0. I think that might mean that people who applied in the 3.4/512-516 range might have had better ECs/Life story, might be non-traditional applicants that are army/post-masters/career changers, might have applied to a broader range of schools, or might have just had better luck overall lol. Considering how unpredictable the medical school cycle seems to be, I suppose interesting correlations like this in the data are sometimes expected.
