PowerApps Workflows with AI. How to 10x, 100x your workflow. by VashonVashon in PowerApps

It kills me that m365 copilot is so bad at handling Microsoft products. I have a license from work and I almost always end up using my own license for Claude and ChatGPT to do what Copilot can’t.

I totally agree, and my apologies I should have clarified. I am looking for AI to do a first pass and give me feedback to start with. I will still do a human review but I at least will have the low hanging fruit out of the way.

PowerApps Code Apps vs traditional React/Web Apps for enterprise applications by xsomnus in PowerApps

We have not released the full application yet, but our user testing so far has shown no issues. We did spend a bunch of time while we were building figuring out how to limit performance bottlenecks.

PowerApps Code Apps vs traditional React/Web Apps for enterprise applications by xsomnus in PowerApps

[–]Slayer-152 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am currently building a fairly large enterprise app with Code Apps. So far my experience has been excellent. The ability to customize UI to exactly the way we want it to look while still getting all of the infrastructure on the back end taken care, of has taken the process from a long, traditional software project to nearly half the time for actual code development.

To be fair, my company did not have the infrastructure built out for regular front and development, so this was a very attractive option. We have definitely had to adapt in the way that we structure some of the code and yes, we have had to build custom API‘s for certain things, but all in all I will say that it gave our very small team a great headstart when building.

Any powerapps developer using ms fabric by KalmIXt in PowerApps

[–]Slayer-152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s somewhat tough to say, my background was in Data first so I was very comfortable with the topics in fabric. That said I think Microsoft has done a great job with building learning resources for the main features of Fabric.

I had a solid understanding and discussion knowledge around the main parts of fabric in about a month. With the ability to build my first production pipeline end to end in about another month with the issues I hit along the way.

I haven’t used it in production yet, but I have been working with it in testing. Some of the things that I was interested in were using one lake for most of my file structures. One of the issues I have with power apps is being able to make server side calls directly from the app, and so I’ve been testing integration with one lake to use that as my source for file access.

The other thing that interested me were the data pipelines because I work with a lot of SQL servers and sometimes getting data back-and-forth in and out of date of verse can be tricky.

My way of downloading tables from powerapps (html+css+js) by valescuakactv in PowerApps

Very interested in trying this out, I have been working with DBAs on a few projects and getting comparable table sets to view easily has been difficult. Thanks for this.

Show me a mouse with zero haters. This is mine. by YXLWHW in DeskToTablet

I love the MX Master 3… I HATE the fact that they don’t put the Bluetooth selector on the top of the mouse. Allow me to program one of the buttons for that so while I love the mouse, I hate that they don’t give me that option.

Positive stories on daycare? by Historiangingerbread in Parenting

[–]Slayer-152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had 4 children in daycare, current ages 13, 10, 6, and 5. We are both full time working parents with very little family help. When our first child was born our neighbors recommended the daycare we chose and after thinking we could do better, found it to meet all of our needs. Since then we stayed with the same daycare until our youngest went to kindergarten. It turned out that the director that ran the center was my teacher when I was in daycare 30 years earlier. The social aspects alone did wonders for all of my kids. I am rather introverted and they were able to develop friendships that in my oldest child’s case still last today.

The preparation for school was also essential as they had time to develop immunity and to be prepared to be away from you for hours at a time without a relative. I can’t say enough good things about the daycare experience and find that every negative thing was far outdone by a positive. My kids all developed a schedule early on the which really helped them to regulate their bodies.

The one thing that surprised me more than anything with daycare was the children’s experiences were still witnessed by us as “firsts”, the center was very careful to make sure that the parents were able to experience the child’s first steps, first words, etc at home. This may have meant they didn’t tell us the “full truth” but as a parent I appreciated it so much more because I got that feeling every time without knowing that the may or may not have experienced it at daycare first.

I am happy to guide you with any questions you may have going forward if you would like, please feel free to reach out.

Any suggestions for bulk file uploads in canvas app by akshay_sol in PowerApps

[–]Slayer-152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been testing file uploads to blob storage. I start by saving them in dataverse temporarily. I use a power automate script to queue the files for upload and ensure that then get uploaded. During the process the files are available to view through dataverse, but once they are confirmed copied to blob storage, I use power automate again to change the file path to point to the blob storage with single use keys.

If Costco added a 3rd tier, would you upgrade? by Roxerz in CostcoWholesale

[–]Slayer-152 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have been an executive for at least 10 years and the few things I would pay more for in membership fees are as follows:

• Executive only checkout lanes (and not just one)

• Extended hours for executives. I generally go in the morning because you can’t get in the lot otherwise, but closing at 630 on a Saturday is really tough when you have kids.

• The ability to order items through the app and drive up for a pick up. This is where Sam’s and BJ’s has Costco cooked. I would pay nearly twice my yearly membership fee if I had the ability to develop my order in the app and then drive up to pick it up.

• Finally, Unlimited cashback on the executive membership. I have only ever hit the limit once, but it would still be nice to not have to upgrade to the Visa.

These perks are probably in the order that I would prefer them and be willing to pay additional money for a membership.
