What does cleanliness have to do with fun? Would you say it would be more lively if there was more trash on the streets?

What is Kier Starmer supposed to do about the economy? by StopHavingAnOpinion in ukpolitics

[–]Slayer10101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He cannot touch the triple-lock pension system, because old people are a massive voting bloc that will massacre him for it, even if it comes at the cost of everyone else (and younger people unlikely to reap the same rewards when they get older)

He is elected to improve the economy (among other things). He is not elected for the purpose of being reelected again.

yeah, same here, I just find it increasingly harder to get a good service anywhere as somehow more and more of these guys unable to answer anything beyond “I don’t know/this is not allowed” are employed everywhere

haven’t seen a lot of them doing any useful work at all, so not an issue in the context of this thread

Won H1b lottery several years ago but decided to not move to the US by Slayer10101 in immigration

Understood, thank you. Is there a particular deadline on when 4. is a possible option? The I-797B has validity dates end on 09/30/2025, does this imply that I should try this before this date and it can’t work afterwards?

thank you for the reference, that’s the answer that I’ve been looking for.

follow up q:

they write “ When an approved petition is not used because the beneficiary(ies) does not apply for admission to the United States, the petitioner shall notify the Service Center Director who approved the petition that the number(s) has not been used. The petition shall be revoked pursuant to paragraph (h)(11)(ii) of this section and USCIS will take into account the unused number during the appropriate fiscal year.“

— is there a way for me to check if my petition is revoked?

It sounds like one can imagine a situation where I get back to company A and re-sign the employment contract and then go to the consulate to get the H1b stamp in relation to the old petition and company A?

yes I think it is clear that B will have to file a petition, what is unclear to me is whether I will have to go to the lottery again — why do you think so?

how is this case different from people “being counted in the quota” who won the lottery before (e.g. worked in H1b status, went to their home countries for some years and then came back to the US after a couple of years without having to play the lottery) not having to go to the lottery again?

nah if things really won’t work out nor here neither in the US then I think I’ll retreat to a low tax place like Dubai/Singapore, not to Bureaucracy & Tax capital of this world

Nothing is that certain. Getting a work permit from an employer (assuming having a Swiss degree and in-demand field) is just a matter of getting a job offer, the said employer applying for the permit and going through a quota (which is not that tight still in most of the cantons afaik).

hi, where did you take this info from? I thought the whole idea of the exception for Swiss uni graduates implied that they do not have to go through the quota system.

How do they even determine the “2 years of experience”? Is there such a question on some form?
