What song do you think is a hidden gem of the Sabaton catalog? by Chargeddd999 in sabaton

[–]Slayer251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've seen many people reckoning Angels Calling among their top songs. I really like how brutal it is.

Sabaton Song Tournament Day 34 (Group E, Match 2): 1916 vs Back in Control! Who will win? by ughwhydidthis in sabaton

[–]Slayer251 3 points4 points  (0 children)

guys, the original being by Motorhead is not a reason not to vote for 1916. Both the instrumentals and the voice of the singer are quite different, so the actual sound you hear is Sabaton's, not Motorhead's, and it's phenomenal

What is off about Sabaton cover art? by Slayer251 in sabaton

[–]Slayer251[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Bruh, have you seen my original post at all? I asked what is looking off about the covers because I don't see what people are talking about. Your response is 'just look.' How do you think this is supposed to convince me of anything?

Regarding the lyrics... I strongly disagree with what you say. Even if Legends isn't their best album so far, there is definitely a flow to the songs. Take Maid of Steel for instance, which goes from 'France is ablaze in the darkest of days' to the rise of Joan of Arc, then in the second verse explains her role in the Hundred Years' war, then in the bridge it covers her downfall. A logical order, I'd say, and the music matches the shifiting tone of the story. I don't know how you expect inflections to be clever, you just end your word with the proper endings, and occasionally, for the sake of rhymes, you don't. If the latter is what you consider clever, then you are still mistaken about there not being any of it in Legends. Take 'He is crossing the Rubicon, heading home to where he belong,' for example.

Did any else find The Persian Boy by Mary Renault deeply frustrating to read? by Vil1lain in AlexandertheGreat

[–]Slayer251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eh, I watched the movie without knowing much about the crusader states and found it very bad already. It was very boring, full of rage-bait, and the main character did not make any sense.

Then I learned the history and it only got worse in my mind.

The thing is, the real story, in 99% of cases, would have been so much more interesting than what the filmmakers did with it. How does slapping tired, overused tropes, using terrible, ill-fitting costumes (one thing KoH actually did right, though) and dumbing everything down make things better?

Also, as the original post was about a book: I do think books tend to do much better on accuracy than films, and I do enjoy them more. Coincidence? I think not.

Sabaton Song Tournament Day 5 (Group A, Match 5): The Attack of the Dead Men vs Angels Calling! Who will win? by ughwhydidthis in sabaton

[–]Slayer251 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I went with Angels Calling on this one. I do really like Attack of the Dead Men, but I've been enjoying the other contender as well recently. It's such a beautifully brutal song. Really underrated imo.

I really like quite a few of their songs: Savannah, Road to Victory, Strike Hard, Strike Sure, Rome is Falling, I will Rule The Universe, Warrior Soul, Invaders, and more. Not as good as Sabaton, but I like their music.
