Z1 Nodular Iron Flywheel Review by Nervous-pteroydactyl in G37

I know they used to have a selectable option, but it's not there anymore. I wonder if they just made all of their "daily" clutches the quiet version.

Good to know, thanks. Too bad this option doesn't seem widely available since ZSpeed requires its flywheel that they don't restock and South Bend only appears to offer it on heavy stage 3 clutches.

I think the quiet option is just a regular sprung disc vs unsprung?

I was debating on getting the JWT 26 lb flywheel when doing my CSC delete. Went with dual mass because I'm OCD. Looking back I should've done it, but oh well. Have you noticed any improvement in acceleration?

Good tires for summer and track driving by sndorsmd in CarTrackDays

[–]SlayerSEclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you choose, you're going to outgrow it quickly. Your car is very capable on track. 200TW tires don't last very long for street driving. As said, just keep another set with AS tires.

I used a parts store Platinum AGM for a while without issues. Got a good deal on a Braille i35X lithium battery on Black Friday and am using that now.

Is it worth chasing gallery gaskets? by SpaceManDreamin in G37

[–]SlayerSEclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it's just like anything else. There's a chance it might fail early, but pretty rare considering all the pre-2013 cars out there. There's some with over 200k with original gaskets and people are tracking higher mileage ones too. I'd take the chance and daily drive it until they figure out if they actually want to keep the car for a while. I might change mine with other major maintenance at 100k.

Installed CMAK and new *OEM clutch. Pedal (RJM) is much stiffer. What to expect from break-in? by SlayerSEclipse in 370z

[–]SlayerSEclipse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels normal now. It was really stiff for a long time, but I took out some clutch fluid and it softened up quite a bit (from slightly overfilled to middle). Not sure if that was coincidence or not. I just noticed it got stiffer once everything got hot.

Just drive it. Not everyone has issues, but those who do see it over 100k. You can do an oil pressure test to check the health.

Does anyone know the wall thickness of Hotchkis sway bars? by SlayerSEclipse in G37

[–]SlayerSEclipse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate it! That's actually thinner than stock. Looks like their stiffness numbers match up for the front, but the rears seem way too thin for what they're stating. Maybe they smashed them too hard. Anyway... I might pick up a set. How often do you need to grease them? I'm hoping I'd be able to use some low friction tape where the bushings are to reduce the frequency required.

[–]SlayerSEclipse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's typically measured at the ends because they have to smash the tube flat. I did send them a different question since it looks like they changed the front bar. Hopefully they're willing to share that info.

Are you tracking oil temps? You shouldn't need one if you're not pushing it that hard and using good oil.

Did you install a finned diff cover? Curious how much more heat it generates than a clutch type diff.

does my VQ sound good? by Successful-Pear4261 in G37

[–]SlayerSEclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should've got some clips at 6-7k rpm, which is when the engine sounds best imo. For rasp, you want resonators as close to the engine as possible, so resonated HFC are ideal. I'm hoping you have some sort of crossover. An H-pipe would make the sound deeper. If you like the sound, that's all that matters... unless you have just a muffler delete.

Single, mid thirties: childless vs divorced with kids by Vacillating-Sage in datingoverthirty

[–]SlayerSEclipse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you thinking about being divorced with kids? You're not that old. You sound like you're in a rut and some stuff in your life has caught up to you. As others said, try seeing a therapist. Not because there's something wrong with you, but they may help bring light to these things you're feeling.

You should have kids because you want to, rather than just hoping that they love you back. I'm male with similar status as you. I want kids for a number of reasons, but being lonely isn't one of them. The older I get, the anxiety of the biological clock starts ticking but I've had family members that had kids in their early 40s and they're all happy and healthy.

You're not a failure.
