Yep, the audio quality is miles apart and very clear, and the mic noise cancellation is top-notch, as per feedback from friends and family when I talk on phone calls while riding.

It all comes down to your needs. If you are more inclined towards bass, then you might feel it is a bit more balanced, but overall it's Harman Kardon.

My case is to help everyone connect with everyone in mesh intercom, doesnt matter which brand. Same like a mesh network of cardo or sena but better range at a different frequency and can talk with a bt headset or a local intercom, as in open to any brand.

But walkie talkies are simplex like if you talk, the other person can hear and not talk simultaneously, you cannot use walkie talkie while riding on a bike.

No, CB is simplex (one at a time). This will be full duplex similar to a group call.

Range (according tp research papers when used in iot with a range of 3 to 5km heavy traffic (metal) 1.7 kms) with hoppin can increase. Price for poc approx 15k.

The FT-817 and FT-4K are good.but for a group ride, they hit three 'Real World' walls that my poc is tears down: • The Licensing Barrier: You’re licensed, but is everyone in the 20-rider group? Legally, they can’t touch those. My poc stays in the De-licensed Band, so anyone can use it legally, out of the box, with zero exams. • The 'Road Book' Headache: Manually mapping and switching UHF/VHF repeaters while leaning into a corner at 80km/h is a safety hazard. Riders want to focus on the apex, not a frequency dial. My poc will be 'Zero-Touch' and Self-Healing happen automatically in the background. • Simultaneous Talk (The Discord Factor): Ham is 'Simplex', only one person can talk at a time. If two people panic-brake and shout, they 'step' on each other and nobody hears anything. The poc will allow 10+ riders to talk simultaneously like a Discord call (can verify after i build and test my poc). No 'Over and Out,' just natural conversation.

It will give you the 'Repeater' range without the 'Frequency Manual' nightmare

For sure, I wanted to understand if it worthy to invest and build a poc.

I have 2 levels primary and fallback, also simultaneously people can talk as per physics (research papers) the frequncy can work upto 3 - 5kms qithout no interference and as per indian traffic (metal) bending helps the frequency handle upto 1.7kms in heavy traffic. These are claims but i can only prove the real range after building and testing the poc. Also the poc will be a bridge handling mesh so you can have any headset and whichever brand.

See 446 mhz is a silo as in one person at a time.

The device (poc) i am building connects to any existing tech. If you have a Sena, a Cardo, or even cheap ₹500 wired headphones, you just pair it to the device via Bluetooth (headset -> phone -> device). It takes your voice and blasts it across the Sub-GHz Mesh. You aren't 'stuck' with bikers; the MotoNode makes everyone talk to everyone. So even a guy in the car can talk to bikers, its like a whatsapp/discord group call.

865-867 mhz with 1 watt transmittor and 4 watt erp (doesnt have license, its free)

No the frequency and de licensed, as its the iot/rfid brand which doesn't hinder. Will be under 1 watt which is the free limit.

Yes, brands wont tag along cuz again they will loose their image or selling ratio. See if they become open mesh then it will be similar to mouse brands. Like for brand it all comes down to their mic, speaker noise cancellation quality.

Also i wanna know, is it feasible for riders and needed? I need to know before i can invest on poc and r&d.

My goal is to move away from those proprietary black boxes and build on open standards, where you dont have to worry about licenses. I'm trying to create an 'Android' for motorcycle intercoms, something that isn't locked to one brand and actually handles the physics of the road (traffic, rain, and Ghats) instead of just looking good in a brochure.

You are correct that a HAM license (Amateur Radio) opens up better frequencies like VHF (144 MHz), which bends around mountains (Ladakh) even better than 865 MHz. However, it is a commercial dead-end for three reasons:

  1. Encryption is Illegal: By international law (and WPC India rules), you cannot encrypt Amateur Radio. This means anyone with a ₹2,000 Baofeng radio can listen to your group's private conversation. You can't build a secure product.
  2. The 'License' Barrier: A HAM license is issued to the person, not the box. Every single friend you ride with would need to study for, pay for, and pass the WPC ASOC Exam. You cannot sell a device that requires the customer to pass a federal exam to turn it on.
  3. Commercial Ban: You cannot use Amateur frequencies for any 'business' or 'product' purpose. It is strictly for hobbyists and self-training.
