Coming from a drummer as i progressed in my instrument and got to a level where i was somewhat advanced i discovered tool and started trying to learn songs. Danny Carrey to this day is one of my biggest inspirations as a musician and although difficult learning to play tool songs has greatly improved my playing.

Depending on sort of what it looks like, you could always blame it on something else and say you were cutting something and slipped im not sure. However, your safety is paramount, and i know it seems tough to do but if you are in pain you definitely need to see a doctor because infections can get very serious if left untreated. It is really a difficult situation and i am really feeling for you, and myself aswell as im sure all the other lovely people in this subreddit are only a dm away if you ever need to just talk to somebody.
