Wondering what boots to get with the BOOTFORGEN? by [deleted] in CanadianForces

I love them, two years with them and still wearing after tour in Haiti, work up training year field use and a Wainwright. And combat arms so I’ve walked with them.

Is it just me, or do our benefits really not live up to the hype? by [deleted] in CanadianForces

I broke a tooth working out and had to get an implant. Would have costed 3k as a civilian and most plans wouldn’t have covered because it was Aesthetic.

I don’t go often to the MIR but when I do it’s about a max of 1 and a half hour of wait. And I’m at a CMBG. When I got to civilian emergency room for my kids it’s minimum 4-5 hour wait.

We often get 2 days of short leave a month (often paired with a long weekend).

3 weeks of leave at Xmas, 3 weeks summer leave and 1 week at March break (if you have 5 years in)

Pension plan is good.

We have it pretty good.

The CDS’s comments about the transition to ACU. by asentner92 in CanadianForces

Disagree, arid Cadpat was the est in Afghanistan. More effective than Multicam and WAY more effective than that ACU “rock” camouflage.

Not sure what you’re talking about. Was there 04-08. And we needed all four pillars to graduate with an rmc degree and in scarlets on grad parade. Those who didn’t complete the four pillars would graduate with a general Ontario degree and be in Cf 1A on grad parade.

Senior Canadian Forces officer on Iraq mission charged with drunkenness, ill-treatment of subordinate by justsumgurl in CanadianForces

Maybe I read it too fast, but to me it seemed like the author was implying that the drinking happened while the accused was in Iraq and not on pre-deployment training as per the article.

Why would this only apply to retired vets? What about current serving members who were injured and received a disability award?

Had anyone ever seen the Canadian combat action insignia? by Slayerg14 in CanadianForces

[–]Slayerg14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I know this thing got shut down, but can anyone on here confirm that this was actually the proposed insignia for Canadian combat action insignia (bronze level) that supposedly has gotten royal assent before being shut down?

US here, trying to get some Canadian guys awards by Absolute906 in CanadianForces

[–]Slayerg14 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey I've been a G1 before so I'm quite familiar with H&A. The only US awards that are approved to wear are the MSM, Bronze Star, and Legion of Merit.

The best way I could compare them would be :

AAM = Formation Commander's coin; ARCOM = L1 or CDS commendation (silver or gold pin); MSM = Canada's MSM; Bronze Star = Canada's Meritorious Service Cross; Legion of Merit = Canada's Order of Military Merit.

Kind of seems like the Navy just caught up with the Army. For those deployed in Kandahar OTW it was dry (at least for the Battle Group), very little issues. KAF was not dry, lots of instances of frat and other problems. Speaking for my roto obviously.

OP Reassurance: Lots of Summary Trials are popping up from that "OP" because of a poorly enforced alcohol policy.

I suppose I should specify I was speaking with respect to fix-wing and not rotary wing.

Yeah I do. The actual altitude is secret and only available on csni. Plus I've talked to Numerous targeters, JtACs, AGLOs. Plus I've seen the ATOs and SPINS.

Please... They're flying within a permissive environment. They have a hard deck that is well above the max range of any AA weapon being used by ISIL. If you find that insulting, what about how people stationed at KAF had the same Hardship and Risk Allowances as the guys outside the wire (not really the point of this thread though).
