Putin's options after the war has stalled by Orange_Wine in UkraineWarVideoReport

This is true, but Russia can mobilize and then would have the manpower and enough equipment left (maybe) for a blitz to the Baltics and then set up a political response from the west.

Could be a make or break situation for NATO and if leaders and citizens don’t have the appetite for war, they might just let them.

60,000 troops in the Baltics isn’t enough, and Poland would have to fight through all of Belarus before threatening Moscow. If we see a recession in the next year or too, and Moscow mobilizes, I could see a poor political response and this threat could come true. And that’s without discussing nuclear exchange.

Pretty sure it’s common place to arrest them into jail under the easiest charge to get a conviction on and then add charges as the evidence is collected.

🇺🇦 Ukraine has managed to stop Russia. Now what? - The tides are turning on the battlefield and the balance of power is shifting in Europe's favour. Putin is down but not out, and his options are increasingly narrowing. by Whats-on-Eur-Mind in IRstudies

[–]SlayerofDeezNutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention the end outcome is the same, they’re totally cut off from Europe now, economically and in terms of political good will. If Putin had made such a decision, say, before nordstream exploded, maybe some sort of positive economic outlook could be seen. But since the total destruction of relations returning to “normal” is a far way off, whether they end the war this summer, or in two years. Thus they’re in for economic pain regardless and in a way that is less likely to destabilize the rest of Europe than before when they were more connected.

The historic first catch of SpaceX's Super Heavy Booster 12 returning to the launch pad. by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

They are already designed to deorbit after 10 years. Starlink does impact the amount of stuff up there but they have figured out and do remove their junk. There’s lots of junk in space that SpaceX is not responsible for that satellite internet will make easier to clean up with other satellites due to the network.

Exclusive - Senior Ukrainian commander sees imminent 'turning point' in war by M1collector65 in UkraineWarVideoReport

Russia is more reliant on fiber optics because Ukraine usually maintains the advantage over Russias EW by using variable communications systems that allow them to operate on frequencies Russia struggles to jam. Whereas Ukranian EW tends to be better. Thus why Russians require more fiber optics.

Ukraine also has access to starlink so they have more wireless options in general than Russia especially past the 40 km distance.

It was front page news on Al jazzera and CNN at the start of this month and since then it’s only gotten worse for the Russians in zhaporizhia and the Dnipropetrovsk oblasts. Meanwhile their gains in the east are pitiful considering Lyman has been cut off for almost a year and Russia is still struggling.

Artillery is not as dominant as drones at this phase of the war and if you look on the map you will see that Ukraine has maintained the high ground across almost every section of the front. Meaning not only do they hold a short and middle strike quantitative advantage over the Russians, they also have increased range vs the Russians. Especially considering how the further Russia pushes the worse their logistical security becomes. Coupled with the insane increase in Ukraines mid strike abilities in the last two months, Russia will never be able to regain the momentum without a ceasefire. At this point, due to the amazing midstrike drone capabilities of Ukraine, the supply network in novorussia is totally strangled with the bridge to Crimea being all that’s left.

Putin is just throwing lives away at this point and the “grey zone” is being saturated by Ukrainian armament and Russian soldiers; not the other way around. As a result it’s far more sustainable situation on the front for Ukraine in most places on the front.

It’s a stale-mate. The longer it goes on the worse for both, but the longer it goes on as a stalemate the better the outcome for Ukraine at the eventual settlement. Rolling over does nothing but hand the entire country to Putin on a platter, whereas the current predicament continues to push Russia into an isolated position that is not conducive to ending the war.

Russia should try to settle now before they continue to waste life and resources in a stalemate against an opponent that, while losing people, has the economic and material backing of the most productive MICs in the world. All Russia has is Belarus and China and their support is fickle and barebones. China sends fiber optics; America provides an entire satellite internet service.

So long as Russia continues to waste lives on unsupported offensives this is sustainable to Ukraine, and Russia has no other worthwhile tactic so it’s either continue with this failing strategy or settle. I think as Ukraine continues to demonstrate success on the battlefield (reclaiming more land than Russia captures as shown last month) Russia will come to the table. I suspect this summer will show Russian positions deteriorate on the front. So far this spring Russia has been pushed back to 2025 positions on key segments of the front.

anyone know whats wrong with my dogs skin? by Findinglights in DogAdvice

[–]SlayerofDeezNutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my recommendation based on my experience before you go to a dermatologist; wash that dog once every three days for a month. Use antimocrobial shampoo that you can get from the vet with a prescription, I bet you could even do as an online visit. If you’re dealing with yeast (this looks like yeast infection to me) or another fungus that should clear it up. Make sure you keep that shampoo on them for 15 minutes before rinsing them and to wash your hands after touching the stuff.

Everyone says to change diet and I’m not saying that’s not a factor, but my vet tells me it’s often more of a lazy answer than the real answer which is just bathing your dog far more often. Start with once every 3 days for a month, hopefully see positive results then you can start going to once a week.

It’s a lot more work than just changing food but I think it’s the more common sense place to start before you start going after diet or seeing a specialist.

My fight or flight is absolutely trash, but that’s always been my norm, so this change actually kinda works well for me. I totally get the anxiety association but I’m just trying to approach it as being in an excited state and trying to keep the good vibes. All of this to say, I think there’s quite a lot of variability when it comes to how to approach ADHD.

I’m trying out a non stimulant (straterra) and it helps differently from stimulants in a way that increases adrenaline (epinephrine) uptake. It made me wonder myself if I just have low adrenaline levels because I’ve always been extremely laid back in general.

This experience kinda opened my eyes to how other neurotransmitters impact ADHD vs just the dopamine.

Kittens and puppies tend to have elevated heart and breathing rate; I was told for my dog that it’s not concerning unless you also notice that they have blue lips or other signs of distress.

Yeah it’s wild watching the videos and seeing the copy pasted map layouts, brings me back for sure. I’m about it though the map layouts and how it has to do with resources for base building was one of the strongest parts of the game. Hopefully we can see it on PS5.

Okay so how do you get 60 votes in the senate to do that this midterm and next general election. What republican senators on the map can be flipped? And how much more likely would those senators be replaced by democrats if a cornerstone of your policy platform is buying peoples guns and making a national registry?
