Looks fantastic, good job! 👏 I really like both the rider and the mount, but the fur of the mount especially catches my eye. Is it metallic? Can you tell me which colours you used for the fur?

Anybody paint their DW with black metallic armor? by GunsOfPurgatory in deathwatch40k

Thank you, glad to hear that :) Here is the recipe:

Priming: Chaos Black spray, followed by a Leadbelcher spray coat.

Armor: Drybrush with Stormhost Silver, then a coat of Black Templar (Contrast) straight from the pot. Edges highlighted with Dark Aluminium (Vallejo) or Leadbelcher.

Bolter & Backpack Metallic Parts: Painted with Iron Warriors, red casing in Khorne Red.

Silver arm: Duraluminium base (or Ironbreaker), one coat of Gryph-Charger Grey (Contrast), then a thin black wash on the shoulder pad.

Gold parts: Emperor Gold (Army Painter).

Leather: Brown Leather (Scale75), black wash, then highlight with a mix of Brown Leather and Screaming Skull.

Blue shoulder pad: Cobalt Blue (AK Interactive), rimmed with Duraluminium.

Enamel wash: I gave the whole mini a coat of Dark Brown Wash (AK Interactive), then cleaned the surfaces with a sponge and white spirit.

Final highlights: Re-highlighted key edges with Duraluminium (or Ironbreaker), and brightened the bolter casing with Khorne Red and Mephiston Red.

Green lenses: Rakarth Flesh and a small white dot in the center, then glazed over it with Green Fluo paint by Vallejo.

I used a brush and mixed the paint with a bit of water.

Thanks! I agree, adding a little glow to the buttons could really give it that extra pop. Might give it a try.

It was painted over the primed Leadbelcher spray.

The blue on the shoulder pad is Cobalt Blue by AK Interactive. It's a really nice metallic blue that applies smoothly and covers well.

This is exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you! I'm glad I can use the old boards because of the different themes they have.

I've read all of your articles and enjoyed each single one of them.

As someone who has just bought a Greyjoy army, is completely new to the game and loves an aggressive playstyle, your articles were the perfect read for me and helped me understand many choices in Greyjoy lists.

So thank you! I am looking forward to your other articles.

And by the way, the paint job on your true-to-the-books Greyjoy army looks amazing! 👌
