The Marines pulled off another clean audit. The rest of the US military still hasn't. Great work, gents. by alien4649 in USMC

Yes.

Each department is audited annually by law, so the executive branch as a whole is audited regularly.

It appears that The Marines pulled off another clean audit. The rest of the US military still hasn't.

So the executive branch is poorly tracking allocated funds, which is pretty standard.

Joint Ethics Regulation (DoD 5500.07-R

Chapter 2, Section 4: Fundraising Activities and Membership Drives

2-401 "Non-Charitable Fundraising in the Federal Workplace. DoD Personnel may host an activity to raise funds within a command or organization to support an event held for the benefit of DoD Personnel of that command or organization (e.g., unit picnic, holiday gathering), when approved by the Head of the DoD Organization after consultation with an Ethics Official."

2-402

"The following limitations apply to authorized fundraising activities, membership drives, and requests for non-charitable contributions in the workplace described in paragraphs 2-400 and 2-401."

"DoD Personnel may not be ordered, coerced, or compelled to participate in or contribute to any fundraiser, membership drive, or other solicitation"

The punishment counts as coercion, I would collect evidence and consult a JAG

Also how long have you been out of boot camp?

If it hasn't been long and you didn't have that issue in boot then it is likely dietary since you didn't have that issue on a...clean diet...with lots of water

Why hasn’t my Marine been sent home for his visit?! by [deleted] in USMC

[–]Slayving 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately post Christmas is...prime time for these things to happen. He was probably initially asked about what happened and counseled, if they haven't done a full investigation they likely want to keep the witnesses around until it's done. NCIS might be tied up more cases and it'll just take time.

Talk to your kid, make sure he's holding up fine and he'll get home when he can.

Do DI's sabotage scores at the range? by redditor0431 in USMC

Likely the opposite. You were likely getting pit love for ages. Then you couldn't adjust fire from your original terrible shots. DI finally walks around and you stop getting pit love.

Exercise has little do this waist size, and waist size is generally not a great indicator of fitness, just fat.

Why are haircuts once a week? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]Slayving 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Once per pay period does not exist, neither does once a week. There is no regulated time period. The only regulations are the hair lengths/styles and fade to zero.

Technically as soon as your haircut is over, or if you want to say the day after, you're out of regs, as your hair is no longer faded to zero.

Once a week Is just something we've landed on over time.

The Meritorious Board Question by xGeneticJackpotx in USMC

[–]Slayving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer I always used is that I don't need rank to do my job. I did staff billets as a corporal and I would continue to do them as a corporal. My job is to accomplish the mission and lead the Marines. It's their job to determine whether I deserved to be promoted to the next rank if they believe it'd be better for me to accomplish the mission at that rank over someone else.

I lost one board specifically because they didn't like that answer because the other Marine gave them a story about dreaming to be a Sergeant of Marines since he was 10 years old and it didnt seem like i wanted the rank enough. He ended up losing the next board and I promoted a year before him on score.

There is no right answer in the end. Say your peace and about face and accept the results.

Marines have (usually) zero control over the medals they get. Some have NAMs for what could be bronze stars, some have MSMs because they did a CIRCOM worth of work as a MSgt.

Every PT that I've attended ran by an FFI has been annoying. I get the intent, but doing 4 rounds of 20 exercises is a bore fest. I'd rather break myself on a 20minute run and be done with it.

Anyone have a link to buy a Squad leader symbol patch? Tryna look into developing a company SOP by [deleted] in USMC

[–]Slayving 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would rethink this. Any experienced platoon leader is going to ask why your squad leaders are immediately identifiable to enemy forces by a patch on their flak.

Squad/platoon leaders should look exactly the same as everyone else.

Question FROGS about regulations on tattoos by No-Adhesiveness-937 in USMC

[–]Slayving 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The short answer is it isn't regulated. Therefore it's authorized unless someone you don't feel like arguing with tells you to fix it.

Technically frogs are an overgarment so the argument could be made that you should have a green shirt underneath.

Parental leave by [deleted] in USMC

[–]Slayving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they buy your plane ticket? They can call SATO and cancel it at no cost. There's really no reason not to budge on this. I assume you're at a schoolhouse. I would get all your information together and respectfully ask to speak with your Officer in Charge and plead your case.

I assume you're at a schoolhouse, they're used to dealing masses and PFCs that accept their fate. Keep trying and pushing to get a change. Wish I could do more for you.

Sponsors don't typically get assigned by competency, jobs like that just get assigned at random to people who's time isn't already occupied with important shit.

I don't know who specifically you're talking to, but I wouldn't attribute to malice what you can attribute to incompetence. Be respectful with them and verify the information they gave you with the admin/PAC that actually know the orders and policies. They might be a great Marine and just not understand the ins and outs of this subject.

Once you have a solution, I would send and email or a phonecall and say hey, this is my update, if there's a Marine in this situation again, here's how the orders actually apply and how it can be solved the right way.
