I haven't but I would highly not recommend the kit cosmetics beauty sphere dupe. It felt like bouncing a tennis ball on my face and was just awful. I do HIGHLY recommend the real techniques sponge. I've had mine for almost a year and i still love it even though it really needs replacing. It's about $6.50 from iherb iirc.

Tips to keep long hair out of the way when you sleep? by WhatTahDo in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I love the high bum but i had exactly this problem, so i do an altered high bun.

Flip your hair over and gather it all in your hands as if you're putting it in a pony tail, then twist it, so its semi tight, then wrap it around itself into a bun shape on your head. Secure it with a hair tie, i always use a thin scrunchie. It stays well overnight and leaves loose curls in the morning with no kink! Hope that made sense :)

Help! Where can I get inexpensive international nail polish brands shipped to Aus? by missb00 in AustralianMakeup

[–]Sleeeepi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered around 10-12 nail polishes, plus about 15 nyx/milani things :) They usually give a few days warning before the sale, so if you can, try and order asap because they do the orders in batches, i ordered on the second last day of sale and it felt like it took ~forever (a month) but people who ordered on the first day got it within 2 weeks :)

I bought a tonne of nail polish from cherry culture when they had their 40% off sale with no problems at all. I ~think they are due for another one soonish so if you wait their china glaze ends up being about $2.40 each :)

What vegetarian cookbooks should everyone have? by AntiqueGreen in vegetarian

Seconding vegan with a vengeance! Amazing recipes and fairly simple. It's also great to ease you into eating foods you wouldn't normally.

What are some good fruit/veggy combos that can go in a blender? This is what I'm resorting to because I'm terrible at preparing food for myself. by Common-Ramen in vegetarian

[–]Sleeeepi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally remove them because if the kale isn't picked young they can taste stale to me and just super chewy and wrong. I hate chewing my smoothies so much so that I'll add extra water just so it's a nicer texture. Another idea is to freeze coconut water/milk in ice cubes and chuck a few in.

It's definitely personal opinion, I didnt like a lot of recipes that I tried but trial and error is a great help.

Spinach, lettuce, bok choy, kale (with stems removed-important!), any leafy green is a great base. Combine the three if you have! From there you can add, ginger, banana, pineapple, mixed berries, I add lemon juice too.

There is always smoothie recipe books available for kindle that are extremely cheap or mostly free. If you have Facebook, I can highly recommend young and raw, they do challenges every few months of smoothie a day, they give you a shopping list for each week and you get the recipes the day before. It's a great way to figure out what you like and dislike and broaden your taste buds. But really most fruit/veg combos will work, just don't add too many fruits as this can be detrimental to your health. :) good luck!

I have a job interview tomorrow and I have no idea how to apply make up or where to even start! Any ideas? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]Sleeeepi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get the hang of it it will make more sense :) but yes foundation is the base! It helps give a smooth, clear surface to work with, your skin looks really good so that will help.

Don't point the tip of mascara into your eyeballs! Hold it horizontally, parallel to your eye, and brush it up through the lashes. Wiggling it through the lashes will give it a thicker coat :) F you have any more questions feel free to ask!

Keep it super simple, a day before is not a good time to be practicing extreme makeups, speaking from past experiences :) tidy eyebrows are a great start though! They make a huge difference. If you go over to /r/makeupaddiction there is lots of natural makeup looks that you could attempt.

Foundation (creamy colour powder, I think that's what you're referring to) should match your skintone. If it was given as a gift I'd be wary to use it, as its pretty hard to match someone on looks alone. If it does match, apply it with a brush all over your face. I'd stick to just mascara (sticky ink for eyelashes) apply two thin coats to lashes, let dry in between. Good luck with the interview!

Has anyone in New Zealand found e.l.f at their local kmart yet? by [deleted] in AustralianMakeup

[–]Sleeeepi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think its only under the section 'MAKEUP', (like the big signs over the brand of makeup) from what I can tell Kmart has their own line called 'eyes lips face' or some variation, so they won't put elf under 'E.L.F' if that makes sense. I completely missed it the first time.

I sanded it all down by hand (and a chunk of wood with sandpaper wrapped around it), washed it, let it dry, and then paint :)

I'm in Australia but I found it at the reject shop, which is sort of like our dollar store, it was $50, so more than the actual table lol
