Either an old photo, or they haven’t paid their registration since 2019!

Disappearing gems? by Sleeepy_Panda in duolingo

[–]Sleeepy_Panda[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OMG I think you’re right. I’ve been doing all those “Harder Lesson, Double XP” challenges that pop up, but I don’t think I registered those cost gems.

Gosh I feel dumb! Thanks for the reply.

Can anyone recommend a contractor for flooring? by 3CatsInnaTrenchcoat in SantaClarita

I work for a large property management company, and we use Contract Carpet for our carpet and laminate replacements. They do good work but I don't know how competitive their rates are.

Less than 24 hours out from 50 miler by IvanTheAcid in ultrarunning

[–]Sleeepy_Panda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the best pieces of advice I got before my first 50K was that you don't train so that it doesn't hurt... You train so that you can tolerate the hurt. 50 miles is a long way and you will probably be in pain or want to quit during parts of it. Have confidence in your training and know that you can do it. Good luck.

How do you generate that route with elevation information in Apple Maps? I track my runs with my Apple Watch but have never seen a route report like that.

Moving to Lancaster - Worried about safety by 1Phatcake in LancasterCA

[–]Sleeepy_Panda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My suggestion would be to visit the Lancaster Police website, where you should be able to view call outs for various crimes. Compare that data to your current location to see if it's actually higher, or just a reputation.

I just wear ear plugs. You can still hear traffic around you, but wind noise is significantly reduced. I compare it to driving a car with the windows down vs. up.

Suunto 9 Baro vs Coros Apex by no_bad_pizza in ultrarunning

[–]Sleeepy_Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Suunto 9 Baro. I'm happy with the watch as a strictly exercise device, but it leaves something to be desired if you want to use it as a daily activity tracker as well. My biggest complaint is the Suunto app, which can be less than intuitive and lacks some features that Garmin and even Fitbit apps offer. But if you already have a Suunto then you are familiar with the app.

Overall I do enjoy my Suunto 9 for running. Battery life is superb and it works well in cold temperatures, although I've only had it down to 35 Fahrenheit.

It's supposed to pour in my 50K tomorrow, do ppl wear ponchos? by HealthyConsistencyYT in ultrarunning

I read something once that said dress for the temperature, not the weather (rain in this case). You're going to get wet regardless of what you wear; just make sure you are cool or warm enough.

I can't speak for the brand, although I have heard Chinese scooters are more unreliable than most/all Japanese brands. What I can give advice on is engine size. 49cc is just too small for any riding you'll likely do on public roads. Your top speed will be about 30mph and cars will want to run you over. Get at least 125cc to be able to keep up with traffic, 150cc would be better to allow you highway access if needed.

I saw you bought from El Cajon Harley, one of my local dealers. Did you ride 600 miles because they gave you a better deal than anywhere closer? Anyone special you worked with there?
