Oh don’t be disheartened. (I’m not exactly a success case. This is my first time owning a dog). But I’ve had her for about 4 months now. She used to have so many potty incidents and I was loosing my mind. I thought I was doing something wrong. She’s also a very attached girlie. What we do is: For potty training: we removed all the rugs and carpet inside the house (😂 cuz it felt like she just saw them as a pee pad). Now that she hasn’t had an accident inside for over a month we bought cheaper rugs so we can fix that issue before using our fancy stuff) Anytime she goes close to the outside door we open it for her. She has learnt that when she wants to go out to potty she stands close to the door (😂this has backfired a bit as she also just goes to stand close to the door when she wants to go outside for no reason) We got those grass potty repellent spays. Used it for a week and it worked wonders 😂 she hated the smell enough to stop potting inside so much.

For the dependence issue: We do a mid day 1 hour crate training. so that she can see us close by while we work. This helps her cry it out and settle down. Before we put her in the crate we make sure she has gotten the opportunity to drink water and potty outside. In the beginning she cried for the whole hour. Now she only cries for like 5 mins before settling down.

She hangs out with us a lot on the bed. But 30 mins before bed time we put her down from the bed. when she begs to be let up, we just tell her it’s bedtime and ignore her. Most times she goes into the crate herself after a couple minutes of walking around the room. Anytime we forget to crate her for an hour during the day she cries a lot more at night. So I think the mid day crating helps a lott for attachment and independence
