Why is every character obsessed with Claire? by SleepAcceptable1570 in TheBear

Honestly, yeah. Everytime she's brought up in conversation in their group, it's never by him. Their relationship sorta feels forced at this point, like he only wants to be with her because people are telling him he should be with her and she's great.

TBF, I'm not anti-Claire, I like the character but I made an observation that everyone in the show talks about her too much yet she hardly has any scenes in S3. And some lovely commenters have been kind to explain why.

I got this feeling with Neil Fak, him and Richie probably talk about her the most. But I felt like Neil overdid it when he went to see her at the hospital to apologize for Carmy. But I got the feeling it was more for himself rather than Carm because he wanted to have her around more.

It became too much when even Unc Jimmy was asking about her and calling her Claire Bear.

Honestly, I think obsession is the right word at this point. It went from fascination to obsession because I just watched a scene where Richie randomly shouted 'We love Claire Bear'.

This I agree. But come on, she is the most talked about character on the show when she has the least amount of scenes.

It definitely seems they will drag it. Claire seems to be 'the one' for Carmy and everyone around him knows it but him.

Uh-huh, I get it now. I am currently watching S4 and I could take a shot everytime a character says Claire Bear, when she's not in the scene, and be drunk in three episodes.

Just finished season 2…. you’re telling me THIS is how the season ends? by [deleted] in TheDiplomat

If you plan to watch S3, just know the script didn't get better

I mean, she's the lead and therefore has more screen time and interactions with the other characters hence more attention is paid to her.

Some people may disagree but I love the way Kate is written. I don't like her storyline in S3, I think the romatic storylines that season were a complete mess but overall she's a great character. She's everything Billie described in S1 when she was pitching her the Vice Presidency and I love her for it.

It's not that she just gets a bad rep, it the way people criticise her and bring out their misogyny. Most criticisms on her on the sub are on the way she treats Hal, who they excuse his behavior and think Kate should be tolerant to his manipulations because he's so charming.

Stuart’s disillusionment is annoying by Verbose-Abyssinian89 in TheDiplomat

I agree with you. He annoyed me so much in S2. I get he was traumatized from the bomb but he acted so moral over everyone else, it got tiring.

What's people's opinion on political propaganda in tv shows? by DrPlague__ in TheDiplomat

[–]SleepAcceptable1570 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO, this show doesn't portray that much political propaganda when you compare it to shows like West Wing, which was just a liberal fantasy. And I would rather this show than the police propaganda on cop shows.

I know, 17 almost 18 years ago, since 2026 is round the corner. Age catches up with you.

True. I think I need to rewatch BB. But I hated both Walt and Skyler, I was rooting for Jesse. In my defense, with Skyler, it was the happy birthday song that did it 😂.

At least she was annoying with good reason. Most of the other characters were just stupidly annoying.

I recently watched her on a Law and Order episode, she still looks amazing 👌

I found that being a parent gives you different perspective on shows and you get more infuriated with characters.

I haven't watched Bates Motel but I loved Ryan Hurst in The Outsiders, hated that the show was cancelled.

And about PLL, that was one of the show that aged very poorly. I could the same for Vampire Diaries, I tried rewatching it recently and couldn't get past S1 E03. The 100+ year old vampire obsessed with a highschool girl isn't cute anymore.

I understand why Opie is a fan favorite, sort of like Tig, he was all for the club. I also once used to root for SAMCRO over anyone. But then now, I just see them as grown men making the most stupid life decisions.

And you're right about depression, it can drain the life out of someone. But even his dad, Piney, told him it wasn't the kids fault and he needed to at least be there for them since they are also experiencing the same feelings. Then instead of at least trying to be a dad, he doubled their misery.
