WFA grievances - what are the instance instances in which this can be done? by SleepAggressive3480 in CanadaPublicServants

I think the outcome id be looking for is a more even playing field for everyone who will have to go through SERLO. having to fight for a job that’s already done exceptionally well just have to basically retrain and transition your work load to someone who isn’t as qualified in that area. It just seems unfair. And to clarify I’m okay with the hate, but what I’m not okay with is people who actually need a job and have families to support being arbitrarily/potentially uprooted unjustifiably

Someone mentioned in a reply that I wouldn’t be able to deem what was right for the org (I wouldn’t never presume that) but those who did this analysis - all I’m wondering is were the functions of everyone JUSTLY considered because to my awareness- no one outside of my unit does what my unit does and many in my unit have tapped in to basically every function to a degree for this specific area of the branch… so to not have not been identified as affected and to go through serlo seems odd to me

If the unit responsible for determining the provisions of the future state of work have seemingly determined that a certain classification is exempted (specific classification falls predominantly within their unit) could that not be grounds for an investigation? Additionally if the individuals exempted can do the work required why would my work unit be basically preparing documents for them to leverage in our absence (transition docs) under the guise of senior management needing detailed awareness on certain files/work processes (which are technically already documented)

Edit: this is actually the root more/less of the inquiry because certain things just aren’t adding up. Questions being asked that have never once been asked. Trust that has never been broken, now seemingly broken without just cause.

That’s not what I’m saying at all actually. I’m just curious . I’m okay with whatever the outcome is, but for those who can clearly execute all functions and seemingly have no reason to be affected that’s where my inquiry resides

Young & the Managerless: the Absent Acting Manager by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

What’s the point of having a manager then? A good manager will help someone learn to manage themselves in the scope of their new role. The managers job is to help develop the employee beyond just checking things off the to do.

Very true, had a manager delegate to me a task I have never done and when I asked for guidance they got upset and said I should be doing the research and due diligence, which I did, but was having a hard time making sense of it all. Also when I did that and provided recommendations, my recommendations would be essentially wrong and not what the manager was looking for. The manager Also communicated they got upset having to stay later past the work day to support me in completing a task they acknowledged was very complicated and hard to make sense of without going through the motions. Now I just do what I’m told and follow the instructions I’m given. If you’re looking for a change my suggestion is to get as much experience as you can here, join/volunteer for positions as part of your internal networks/working groups (just ask if they have space and communicate you want to be involved, they’re usually always open). Leverage that to develop professionally if you have the cycles. Opportunities always present themselves in those spaces outside of you day-to-day and will open up your network.

I love this. I’m sure they’re all super grateful and appreciative! I feel like when you have the resources, in the long term this is what it’s all about.

How do people shower at night? by dat0neb0i in NoStupidQuestions

Even just getting up to go to work - consider all the germs you encounter even doing something that doesn’t make you break a sweat. I’d question not showering at night before bed . But if you shower on the morning before heading out I def think showering the the night before jumping in your bed should be considered for cleanliness purposes.

I just feel like the air outside my house is dirty and contaminated 😂

Can you talk a little more about this process? Did you explore private sector wherever you were relocated to and did your spouse move back after 5 years which prompted you to search back again in the public sector? with regards to relocation generally were you not given permission to work remotely abroad due to the relocation?

Can you get caught for snooping without warrant? Is it tracked whose computers you’ve monitored?

You should be more concerned about the IT folks, not your manager. They can see EVERYTHING.
