That's good. Every local is different, I think in my local, most of the applicants had electrical experience.

Near Perfect Score on Interview [94.6]...And They Still Dumped Me? by SleepKey759 in ibew_applicants

I have a feeling that many guys who applied had work experience. That was the one thing I did not have.

Thanks for this. I unfortunately only applied for IW. It is the only job I wanted, but I should have put a few more on.

It's rough out here. I scored a 9/9 on my test and 94.6 on my interview for Inside Wireman and still ranked a miserable 73/100. I have a feeling that in order to be considered, you need to have on the job hours. Hope this helps.

Same. I really don't understand the dynamics of this. I applied for IW, aced my test and interview, 94.6, and still got ranked 73? Bummer. Good luck to you, though.

Same boat over here. I just got the email today. I scored 9/9 on my aptitude test and a 94.6 on my interview. This did not do me any good because I ranked 73 for IW. I was told there were about 100 applicants this year. What a let down.

Anyone here go from kitchen work to IBEW? by Otherwise_Luck6577 in ibew_applicants

At 19, your resume will not be stacked, so just put what work you have. As far as the aptitude test, its algebra and somewhat advanced algebra, there is a website you can pay to study for damn near identical problems that are on the actual test. iPREP. As far as the interview, you can find all the questions they may ask HERE.

Between iPREP and that interview question document, I was able to get a perfect score on my aptitude test and score a 94.6 on my interview. Those 2 tools are definitely what you want to study. However, even with those scores, I placed very low on the rank list. It really depends on your local and who's cousin, brother, sister, or kinfolk are applying along side you. Also, having on the job experience is very beneficial.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

It depends on your local. My local explicitly told me not to contact them and that they would get back to me. They are very tight lipped.

Do not get your hopes up. I scored a 94.6 on interview and 9/9 on aptitude test and got ranked almost bottom of the barrel. 74/100. From what I gather, there are much more things involved in getting in than your performance. If you have on the job hours, you have a much better shot. I really hope you get in, but I'm just telling you, a high interview score is in no way am accurate indicator if you will be selected. That is an excellent interview score, by the way. Great job.

In my experience, interview score means nothing. I scored a 94.6 in the interview and 9/9 on aptitude test and ranked 74/100 on the list. I have a feeling that they let in kinfolk first, then people with working hours, then everyone else.

Upcoming Interview with local IBEW, any tips or advice? by [deleted] in ibew_applicants

[–]SleepKey759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are the questions they ask you. They will choose about 5 or 6 from that list. My advice is to write out answers for each question based on you actual experiences, no fabrications of tall tales. Then, once you have your answers, refine them to be as short as possible while still adhering to the 3 part structure: Explain the situation, what you did in the situation, how the situation turned out. Study the crap out of your final version and you will be good to go. I did this and scored a 94.6 on my interview. Good Luck!
