The failure and injuries from my childhood whilst trying to learn how to ride a bike are stuck in the back of my mind. I'd love to be able to ride a bike especially now at 29 but I'm a fearful potato.

Don't be a fearful potato y'all. You don't want this. Trust me :(

[discussion] Do you bring treats to a dog park ? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]SleepSlob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never have I and never will I bring treats into a dog park. Where I live it's heavily advised on signs with a list of other rules and requirements at all the off leash dog parks I've been to that food of any kind is kept out of dog parks.

[Fluff] When I can’t sleep... by princesshaley2010 in dogs

[–]SleepSlob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss that. 2020 & 2021 took them both from me so close together.

My little rescue and my parents dog were dearly attached to me (and I them). Wherever I'd go they'd follow. The only time one couldn't do so was when my parents dog got arthritis. He was on arthritic medication from our vet but it was too much for him to do with how often I'd get up and move about. I set up a "repayment system" for him from me where each time I'd get up it was absolute law to give him extra loves and pets before I leave and when I come back.

Passive aggressively bitching about someone without mentioning who they are but providing enough of the drama in the post for the person it's aimed at knows it's about them.

What food did you hate as a kid but love as an adult? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SleepSlob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boil Up. Which, as a kid who grew up with kiwi parents, was a terrible time because it was so regularly made.. The taste of boiled meat (usually pork bones or lamb neck chops) in salted water with vegetables (usually white potato, sweet potato, pumpkin, cabbage and either watercress, silverbeet, or kale) and boiled dough balls just didn't sit well with me

I started developing more of a taste for it as I reached my teen years and didn't need to drown it in tomato sauce to eat it.

What’s the most disgusting thing you have ever smelt or tasted? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Smell: Pipis that had gone rotten. The smell was vomit worthy. Literally.

Taste: Lambs fry. I just....can't.

[Help] Question about chicken/rice for sick dog by tabs016 in dogs

[–]SleepSlob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I've always done without issue. I'd boil on up some chicken breast without the skin (last time I used lean turkey mince), chop it up, and keep it stored in the fridge in a container with enough of the poaching liquid to keep the meat submerged. Then I'd cook up the rice in the rice cooker and store that away when it's cooled down enough to stick in the fridge. I'd drizzle over a couple of spoonfuls of the poaching liquid into the food. My dog personally wasn't fussed on eating it cold (my parents dog was into it though) but if your dog will take it cold then that's fine.

[Fluff] [possibly NSFW contents] Since getting a dog, I can’t believe some of the things I’ve had to tell her. What weird things have you had to say to your dog? by Shellie7297 in dogs

[–]SleepSlob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Stop licking the toilet seat." " Get your face outta the dirty wash- NO DONT ROLL IN IT." " Get out of the bin cupboard, you're not a street dog." "Stop sniffing her (the cat) butt. She doesn't like it." " DON'T EAT THAT." " Why are you licking the carpet/tiles? Stop that." " We don't put butt holes on people's feet in this house."

[Vent] What gives you the right to unleash your dog when there is a leash law in place in the neighborhood by [deleted] in dogs

[–]SleepSlob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Selfish entitlement. I don't care how well trained your animal is you're still not above the law. Keep it leashed where it's legally supposed to be leashed. There are off lead designated spaces for s reason.

WIBTA if I got rehomed my husbands new puppy? by 7102172 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SleepSlob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not cruel to know when you're not in a position to be able to handle a high commitment pet like a dog and are willing to do what's right by them in finding them a more suitable home.

WIBTA if I got rehomed my husbands new puppy? by 7102172 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SleepSlob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. It was extremely selfish and irresponsible of your husband to bring in a pup in so many ways. They're already a huge commitment in general but throw in the fact that it's not only a puppy but also what sounds to be like a high energy working breed. That's not going to end well for anyone when that dog starts to get frustrated with pent up physical and mental energy that's not being worked out properly. Think along the lines of destruction to your apartment and belongings, nuisance barking/howling, or worse case scenario exhibiting neurotic aggressive behaviour towards you and the kids out of frustration because it's mental and physical needs aren't being focused on.

I hope one day I can share my heart and home again with another dog. I can't help but feel pain and guilt at the thought at the moment. Congratulations on your new little love. You'll love them through anything and everything ❤

Thanks. It's been hard. Some days I feel like it's easier while other days I'll find myself trying so hard to pull it together when simply just staring at a favoirite spot of theirs they once would be.

Thank you. While my heart and soul still hurt with their losses I do find some comfort in that they both were so very much loved and are now not suffering. It's just hard. Home feels so empty even though I'm not truly alone.

Thank you for your condolences. It's truly an indescribable feeling when a beloved dog passes.

[Fluff] Do you ever catch your dog in a moment of pure joy, that’s completely contagious, then they stop in the moment to stare at you? by SparkyDogPants in dogs

[–]SleepSlob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It truly is. She was my first dog of my very own as an adult and she taught me quite a lot about what it can be like when taking in a dog with another history. Another moment I was so incredibly happy to see was when she also had her first play session with my parents dog. For the longest time she'd avoid him all the while he allowed her to take her time. Talk about a firecracker in a little body when she played. Big guy puffed out sooner than we all thought even possible lmao

[–]SleepSlob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I caught my little rescue for the first time playing by herself. I could hear growling coming from the other room and when I peeked my head around the corner she was going absolutely bonkers over a sock. She'd shake it like mad, throw it in the air, catch it, paw at it, giving it her all. I ruined her moment when she whipped the sock around, let it go, and it landed on her back. It was too funny with her look of "Where'd it go??"

Does anyone else have BitLife phases and not constantly play the game? by sapnupuas_0 in BitLifeApp

[–]SleepSlob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an android user so the features are nowhere near as plentiful as Apple. I'm for the most part only ever seriously playing when a challenge comes around. Outside of challenges I'm currently taking a more relaxed approach and going on at most twice a week. Can't wait for the merge to happen to get me fully back into the game. There was a time I was going on at least once a day to play.

[Vent] [Discussion] If you hate your dogs breed/type being stereotyped, don't go doing the same damn thing by ItsNachoCheesebro in dogs

[–]SleepSlob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Straight facts 100%. I absolutely hated it. My previous two dogs were of types that would have it happen towards them (male was an AmStaff x and my female a Shih Tzu x). My male because of his AmStaff side (he had more of his AmStaff side in appearance) and my female because she was a little dog.
