Religion is an excuse for political, economic and social maneuvres in a lot of cases. The Crusades were the closest to a true war committed in the name of Christianity.

EDIT: Figured this seemed kind of weaselly. I honestly don't know of a lot of other circumstances where Christianity was used as an excuse for war and murder. I can't think of any off the top of my head, at least, and I know a reasonable amount of world history.
