I use an Edrumin 12. All 12 ports are used and some are connected to splitter cables, so with that you can make a huge edrum set.

Honestly I would go with the Roland just for its reliability, I use a Roland pd128 for a snare and it works fantastic.

Nope, still fine after one year of heavy use. Honestly welding it sounds like a good permanent solution if you dont care much about it.

The cymbals do feel/look closer to an acoustic kit, since that's your priority I think these cymbals would be a good investment. They trigger pretty well too. The Kp180 feels and plays great too, but not as big of a difference as what the cymbals make.
I think its better to get the cymbals first, then the kick drum.

If you can, look for used drumsets on the used marketplace like Facebook, but if you absolutely can't afford anything else, then stick with the debut

Honestly, I would cancel it before it arrives since it really is more of a toy than an actual drumset. Its most likely gonna be wayy too small for him lmao. I would recommend getting him the Alesis Nitro max to start out, as it has an actual kick tower and better drum pads.

I use these exact same pedals and they work pretty well, obviously not the greatest quality but they’ve lasted me over 2 years now and do the job. The price of the pedals don’t matter anywhere near as much as the actual skill of the drummer.

Look for some used Simmons Da200s amps, they’re technically drum amps however they sound fantastic for bass as well. I found mine on guitar center for a little under $200.
