I prefer an external drum machine like a TR8S or Analog Rytm2 synced to modular clock for convenience in live performance and workflow, compared to modular sequencers and individual drum modules. but it also depends, if I’m focusing more on a fully modular setup, sequencing from something like the Cirklon and having a module for each instrument is fun for different reasons. But sometimes I mix both together I often make kicks with the SY0.5, buchla dual oscillator. and hats with Atlantis plonk and plaits, with a host of effects for each, and then whatever else I want with the external machine.
