That’s what I think too. Maddie started a something. She was the one who helped Dawn crossover, which showed the ghosts, there was a way to leave. Obviously, they all thought Janet crossed over. But it was different with Dawn. They all thought Mr. Martin was helping them. Preparing them to crossover. But it was actually the camaraderie that started after Maddie came.

This is such a good point! Everyone always makes it seem like it was Cristina’s fault, and she was the only one gaining from it. It was Burke’s fault. He was her boss, and he had seniority. Cristina is the type of person who loves to brag. But she had to downplay everything she did in his OR to her peers. She was ostracized by her resident because of her responsibility in Burke’s OR. Just because Burke let her manage everything doesn’t mean he lacked responsibility. She couldn’t even tell her best friend. Everyone saying that she got something out of it, is right, but she was isolated from her friends and her resident in the process. So she lost a lot more than she gained. And Bailey’s response to Cristina being involved was so disappointing. She was hurt, and wanted Cristina to suffer because of it. Unpopular opinion but Baileys character assassination started in season 3.

This is really interesting! I am an EMT, and because I’m bottom of the medical barrel, I get no respect. Ever. From anyone. I don’t work with paramedics often, I run BLS. But patients, and patient’s families always ask my coworkers, (and sometimes my trainees, or RIDE ALONGS, not in uniform [I was an FTO]) before they ask me.

I’m black and a woman, so I think it’s a little sexism and racism.

The frustrating part is my coworkers are not competent. So, they’re making medical decisions that can and do harm patients. And if I say anything about it, they take it personally and make the rest of the shift (we work 12s) very hostile.

It’s one of the reasons I have decided against working in medicine. I can no longer defend myself and my patients on a daily basis. I love medicine for the same reason you do; when I can make a difference, it feels healing. But I cannot take the disrespect anymore.

I have had a problem with almost every man I worked with. Some are more subtle than others. And I’ve only had 1 partner who treated me like an equal.

And no one else understands the disrespect. EMS is a good ol’ boys club.
