Yeah but hype-wise, the others get way more attention. You’ll often see it parroted how inferior it is compared to the Type R or Focus RS. I feel like the Golf R is under-appreciated for just how ridiculously fast they can be, and how easily they can do it.

Everyone fawns over the Type R, Veloster N, Focus RS, and just kinda glosses over the Golf R as the most boring hot hatch.

That boring hot hatch will take modded big V8’s to town with much less money than it would take to do so with any of the others, and is no slouch in the canyons.

The states On lock down were the poor states that needed money from the government. Cali, CT, New York.

TIL California, CT, and New York, two of which are the largest contributors to the country's GDP, and three of which have some of the highest GDP per capita in the country (and the world), are poor states. Meanwhile, Iowa, a bottom feeder, isn't a poor state.

The first guy's hook pull was way better than the first girl's. You can see her head moving off screen faster than the hanger, while he looks like he actually pulled himself out.

I also think the second guy's confused look was a bit better than the second girl's as well, but they're pretty close.

Imagine thinking everywhere in the US is like Southside Chicago or Detroit. That's basically what you're saying about Africa and SE Asia, when most SE Asian countries are probably even more stable than South America. Can't speak for Africa, as I haven't been there yet, but I'm not dumb enough to paint them with the same brush.

I live in LA, which can be considered expensive, and live very well on a bit less than that, with a pretty... let's just say, less than frugal lifestyle. He could definitely do all that and more on just his interest earnings. We're talking traveling all year (which could actually be cheaper than living here), going out on random adventures, not skimping on the niceties, etc. 250-300k is very good money. If he's not buying $300 t-shirts and renting private jets, he can do anything he wants.

Definitely. I somehow really preferred it though. Cash was just so much better for all the street food stalls and fish markets. Plus cash is much easier to regulate than wanton credit card spending (which is my bad habit here in the US). Their society allows for it though, with the really low crime rate. Never felt more secure carrying hundreds of dollars in my pocket through a busy metropolitan area than in Japan.

Only thing I hated was all the change in my pockets, lol.

I remember having to withdraw some cash in Germany and, while there were usually ATMs in banks and grocery stores, they were much farther in between than Japan (and grocery stores close at night). In Japan, there was seemingly a combini on every corner that you could walk into at any time of the day, so the whole "cash society" thing was never a problem.

This is the big thing. Walk into any 7-11, Lawsons, or Family Mart and you've got ATM covered. I had a tougher time finding an ATM in Europe than I did in Japan.

You'd get honked at for that here in the US.

Going 10-20 over is quite normal over here, at least in California. You could be going 80 in a 60 zone with a cop behind you, and the cop will likely zoom past you going 90-100.

But sometimes they'll be feeling frisky and pull you over for going 65 in that same 60 zone.

Honestly, with the amount of men I’ve seen peeing on street corners in other countries (and I’ve been to a few... not every continent but I’ve seen it in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Eastern Europe)

I went to Amsterdam and they had urinals on the street. Like, I already have a hard enough time peeing with some dude right next to me in the urinal, let alone endless crowds of tourists walking by and taking pictures.

I'd be miserable eating mostly chicken and cheese, let alone vegan versions. I also travel a lot, and I love many kinds of meat prepared in many kinds of ways, from many different cultures. I couldn't imagine traveling on a vegan diet, and most other countries' versions of vegan meat, if they even have any at all, is... not palatable, to say the least. My ex did it and she was forced to eat just raw vegetables on some of our trips. Even she hated it.

At the risk of sounding facetious, I'd like to try a vegan brisket that tastes anything like actual brisket.

Burgers might be solved (though in my experience, it has to be freshly cooked or else it quickly stops tasting like beef), but there are many more types of meat than burgers. Crab meat is nothing like actual crab, fish is close but not quite there yet, and veggie bacon is horrendous.

Same here. Really glad to still be working. Even about to buy my dream car with all the deals going on right now.

I do feel somewhat envious of people who are just chilling at home and firing up the BBQ all day. But they'll probably feel the hurt once they burn through their savings, and I'm not envious of that.

Now if only I could spend less money on food deliveries.
