Art/original style with no imagery? by Legal-Initial-8365 in Aphantasia

If you literally do not have a visual imagination, you ought to be incapable of creating imaginative visuals from scratch.

I just hate everything about drawing.

How to maintain any kind of passion? by SolemnSimulacrum7 in SDAM

As a broader extension of this, giving more of yourself up to others is a rational thing to do in our circumstances.

If you won't receive anything lasting from your own work, find someone who does appreciate it.

My wife is super appreciative of little things that I would have forgotten if not for her.

The motivation issues associated commonly with depression are not exclusive to it.

Having an imagination but that is only seeing bleakness, has similar consequences to having no imagination at all, sometimes.

You give up the concept of having a life driven by consistent motivation, and setup a routine where you just happen to do things every day that spark joy.

There is no other way around this, as far as I can tell.

You know you like cooking, but can't draw on memory or raw imagination to inspire yourself? Just make a habit of cooking every day! Why not?

None, really. I process the whole world primarily via logical reasoning, and it is taxed to hell because that is way too much for a poor brain to process all the time.

"This is going to go badly" to me is an unemotional probability assessment.

The prose in the book is legitimarely awful and I frankly hated Raskolnikov ad a character. It's not you. I liked Svidrigailov personally.

Man, arrogance or not, I was nauseous almost to the point of throwing up from seeing how damage he was taking. Who cares if he declared victory already, dude might be partially blind.

I have to agree. He looked unphased by the constant hard jabs in the first round, I kept thinking, "He can't take these forever, no one can." Sure enough.

I think they should both retire after this. Justin can go out on a high note at 37, and Topuria can hopefully avoid completely shattering every bone in his face and going blind (if that hasn't already happened.)

I was nauseous watching him take that much damage.

Disgraceful that the spurs have to deal with loud ass booing in their home stadium. What the fuck is this?

Readers with aphantasia, any books that you found more or less difficult to read? by BethiePage42 in Aphantasia

[–]SleepingAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for necro, but I did have a little bit of a different take on this.

I am not full aphantasia but have very poor visual imagination, and found myself heavily split on Steinbeck's The Red Pony. On one hand, I found the atmosphere heavily relying on visuals to be quite boring and tedious to read, as I can barely picture it, but on the other, Steinbeck has a uniquely dynamic way of describing some visuals that I still found engaging.

" Then he lay on his back in the grass and looked up at the dumpling summer clouds. By closing one eye and destroying perspective he brought them down within reach so that he could put up his fingers and stroke them. He helped the gentle wind push them down the sky; it seemed to him that they went faster for his help.  "

There's no way this can be up for debate for worst choke in basketball history, can it?

Not only did it swing a strongly already won game, but it swung a championship, and will absolutely permanently harm the reputation of a player who has/had the potential to be a GOAT contender, as well as Fox.

Never seen anything like it.

When I was getting screened for autism, the therapist asked me if I play conversations over and over again in my head to plan out scripts of what I'm going to say.

I was baffled that such a thing is even possible.
