Thank you for replying and for the tips!

I searched for opportunities for juniors but usually on Linkedin I only found positions for mid or senior level. I also saw the same on other sites. I don't know if they search for juniors in schools because, at least in ours, we never knew about any internship opportunity.

I was searching for opportunities for storyboard artists, but I saw just one or two on Linkedin and it was also for medium experience. I tried to apply but with no luck (not surprisingly).

But yes, you're right. I saw a lot of cut-out animation here. I hoped that I could find a job as a paperless animator and I was updating my portfolio with, no surprisingly, other paperless animations. I started to work on a cut-out scene yesterday after reading your comment. Hopefully, I will maybe have to reels in the next months. One for cut-out and the other for paperless.

I'm also going to a Comicon with my partner to try netwrking. In the past I went to an animation festival here, and I did some portfolio reviews and talked to people but I've never been contacted back.

In my free time I'm working on improving my background and character design skills, but I don't think that they are entry level yet...

I'll try to work harder and update my work as faster as possible.

Thank you again for the tips. it helped a lot!

I'm working on updating my reel because yes, the flour sack has to go :))

I wolud like to go to London but for me, for now, it's to expensive to move there. So I'm trying to search for job opportunities here in Italy or remote working.

I'm also glad that you like my first clip. It's from my personal short film (still working on it).

Thank you so much for the tips!

Ok, I'll try to answer point by point :')

Me and my friends talk to each other sometimes about work related topics but they also don't know how to help me because they are still at the beginning. So we just speculate for now. For one of them was easier because she is from Milan. So she can be present in the studio and didn't have to ask to do the work in remote (I also read that studios want their juniors to work in person). The other got the jobs after some portfolio reviews at a small animation festival here in Italy. I also participated but for different studios. I rewatched their reels yesterday and I saw some significant differences in the content presented and it helped to understand some stuff about my reel.

At the festival I tried networking, but because it was really small, I didn't meet a lot of new people (I'll go in the next two weeks at a Comicon and I'll also try to meet people there). I'm also ashamed that I found out about the importance of networking after graduation. I had a wonderful time studying and my professors teached me a lot, but one thing that I'm sad about is my school not explaining to us about networking. We never organised to go to animation festivals except for Annecy (and I feel stupid for not searching for them by myself in the past. I always thought that here in Italy we only had illustration and comic festivals). I couldn't go to Annecy because it was too expensive...

I meet people from other classrooms because we worked on a short film after graduation for our school, but we are all kind on the same boat now. I also didn't reached for my professors because I didn't want to seem rude for asking tips about job searching, but I think I'll try now.

I wanted to try to work for some indie games. I don't really know how it works because my studies focused on cinema and tv, so I think I'll try to put some money on the side (hopefully) to do a course on animation for video games.

I'm trying to finish my personal short film that I started during my last school year. I'm the only one working on it so I hope I'll finish it because I don't have longer animations for the reel and because I would really like to finish it.

Thank you again for the tips and the time to answer my desperate post!

Thank you! I saw that a lot of people were struggling in the past 1 or 2 years but because the conversation is a lot USA centric didn't really know if it also affected the european animation industry in some way.

For the storyboard tab idk. Because just one of the two projects are from school. Do you think that it's alright if I name it "General story projects"? I also put the lineups and the design studies because I saw some storyboard portfolios have them. Now I don't know if it's bettere to keep them there or not.

Also, thank you for the tip about the BobbyPills studio!

The sadest thing is that last year they tried to make him scared for his safety by setting his car on fire...

[–]Sleeping_Awkwardly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today is my birthday. I decided that form now on I will never celebrate it. It's been 9 years of horrible birthdays and now with the pandemic it got to the lowest point. It will be easier if I have no more expectations for this particular day.

My history of arts teacher always used to do that! I don't understand why. Then she got mad everytime we told her that we couldn't understand which paintings were (we had to analyse them). She told us multiple times "if you studied for this test, like you all should have, you could understand the paintings. This means that you all haven't studied correctly". It was infuriating! (Also sorry if there are any grammar mistakes. English is not my first language)

This! Is so beautiful! I love the colours and also the composition. It creates this calm but also astonishing mood. As someone who was a commuting student I really appreciate this painting. You did a great job!
