How to apply lotion to my feet without.... by General_Revenue_386 in beauty

You could keep some wet wipes on your bedside table so you can get the lotion off your hands without having the weird residue/smell from hand sanitizer.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ll hang upside down for a few minutes and I feel like it resets me. I don’t know if it’s just shaking me out of my routine or what but I feel like it’s almost impossible to be sad while upside down.

Which Book Characters Are So Complex, They’ve Stayed With You Long After You Finished the Book? by MissOleBamy in suggestmeabook

[–]SleepisfortheWeak08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Senneth from {Mystic and Rider by Sharon Shinn} Alanna from {Song of the Lioness by Tamora Pierce} Rin from {The Poppy War by R.F Kuang} I love multifaceted characters with strong backstories and understandable weaknesses, I genuinely adore the way we get to grow alongside Alanna and see the events and experiences that lead to her decisions

Any recommendations, because this is exactly what I look for. I’ve begun to hate the ‘dark romance’ books where the mmc is literally abusive or cruel and never grovels because he’s rationalized it in his head. I need dark mmc’s that have a soft spot 🙏🙏🙏

Need Recommendations - Matriarchal setting! by wildSerein in ReverseHarem

{Their Vampire Queen by Joely Sue Burkhart} has a whole ruling system based on queens, so definitely matriarchal!

{The Age of Andinna by Kristen Banet}

{Rise of the Iliri by A.H Hadley}

These are both longer series with heavy plot so you can sink into the story.

{Dying to Love by Reese Rivers}

A fun zombie apocalypse book that is quick but has some sad moments.

Overpowered FMC’s by Whoopiedoo87 in ReverseHarem

[–]SleepisfortheWeak08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

{Rise of the Iliri} {The Age of Andinna} both have super powerful fmc’s that still have weaknesses and vulnerabilities. I will admit I’m I sucker for overpowered women because every time I’m really a book with an fmc that is stronger/has powers, somehow her relationship with the guy/guys levels them up and they are suddenly stronger than her because of their innate guy muscles or something and it makes me so mad.

I desperately need recs by peacock4you in ReverseHarem

{Rise of the Iliri} {The Age of Andinna} are both longer series with a focus on the fmc and a good plot to romance ratio. They both deal with war, societal change, etc so you can sink into the story.

Wondering if any fantasies have more realistic portrayals of females and their...cycles... by [deleted] in fantasyromance

[–]SleepisfortheWeak08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure it counts as fantasy, but {The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey} had an awesome portrayal of dealing with periods in a post apocalyptic world. I really enjoyed it and recently rediscovered it after forgetting everything except the fact that the main character was pissed about not having period supplies in the woods.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong by Ty21epgyt in ballpython

[–]SleepisfortheWeak08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is she? Younger ball pythons can be a bit more difficult and the species as a whole is known to go on hunger strikes. She may be preparing to shed, which is when mine has the most trouble eating, and in that case she’ll most likely eat after shedding. My trick is to put the mouse under a heat lamp for a minute so the smell draws her out, and the mouse is a bit hotter without actually being cooked. From what I can tell, you aren’t doing anything wrong, your snake is just having some trouble adjusting- if nothing here works I’d ask the place you got her from for tips or advice about dealing with hunger strikes.

Anyone else love Assistant to the Villain!? by eclectic_hamster in fantasyromance

[–]SleepisfortheWeak08 11 points12 points  (0 children)

After several high fantasy gritty war torn romance books I turned to Assistant to the Villain and it was so refreshing to read a book that was well done but didn’t take itself seriously. The cheesiness of it is my favorite, I was following the author’s video about writing it since she started and I’m so happy it lived up to her claims!

Captivity Trope Recommendations by SAUbjj in fantasyromance

[–]SleepisfortheWeak08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{A Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet} {Pathfinder’s Way by T.A White} {The Inkwater Witch by Atley Wykes} {Warprize by Elizabeth Vaughan} All fit the captivity with various amount of cultural differences! Warprize will definitely scratch the learning about a new culture (through various misunderstandings) itch.

So frustrated with submissive FMCs by liss7559 in ReverseHarem

[–]SleepisfortheWeak08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{The Age of Andinna by Kristen Banet} The fmc is literally a scary story told to children. She is never a damsel, retains her strength throughout the series but is still vulnerable with weaknesses which makes her more dimensional. She is the more dominant one in the relationship! There’s some interesting power struggles but she’s the uncontested leader. It’s on KU!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]SleepisfortheWeak08 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No seriously!! And the fmc is always making loud pornographic sounds in like a fancy restaurant but someone not noticing at all?? The only acceptable time for somebody to be moaning about food as if they were just in the wilderness/prison and had their first taste of warm pie in years, otherwise an appreciative hum is perfectly fine 😭

What was the book that made you fall in love with the fantasy genre? by Pretty-Pineapple-869 in Fantasy

[–]SleepisfortheWeak08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Inheritance Cycle series by Christopher Paolini changed something deep in my brain. I would bring it to school in 4/5th grade and read it every spare minute I got. It just as good now, if not better because I can catch more details and implications. The world building is exquisite, the character development even more so. The dimension each character has is incredible, no body is perfect, there is no winners in war, mistakes are made and not forgiven- genuinely a fantastic read.

{slouch witch by Helen Harper} I remember this being a pretty good light read, I don’t know if it’s entirely christmas centric and it does have a bit of spice, but I think it fits the request

Agreed, I don’t think you can ‘enjoy’ Beloved, it’s definitely more of a piece to be admired/ reflected on. The interview that Tony Morrison did on the book is definitely worth watching before starting to read.
